The Deal course is traditionally laid out on a narrow stretch of land extending to Sandwich Bay, and the natural links terrain has been subtly used to provide a wide variety of challenges. On almost every hole there is an abundance of large sand dunes which establishes the undulating character of the course and makes it unique. Unlike most other courses the fairways are just as undulating and it is seldom that a completely flat stance can be obtained other than on the tees. As with all traditional seaside links, the wind is a major factor which has to be taken into account when deciding on club and shot selection.

Superb links golf, the fairways are full of humps, bumps, hillocks, valleys and the greens are pretty much the same. When we played the wind was against us on the front nine and with us on the back, giving us two very different experiences of the course. The staff and members we met could not be more accommodating and the clubhouse facilities are superb, recommend a round here to any avid golfer.

Slightly disappointed in the condition of the course, greens needed a trim but rest of the course played well as a traditional Links. Some challenging holes and very well contoured greens. Clubhouse very traditional and full of history - staff were very accomodating with the only downside being a very grumpy man at the halfway house / cargo container. Would recommend it but if you were paying that sort of money I would consider Princes Golf club first as the Dunes and Shore have what Royal Cinque Ports is lacking in length, technicality and condition. Great course nontheless

Links golf doesnt get much better than this, a terrific test of golf. I would recommend this course to anyone.
