Short and challenging

If you enjoy bashing your ball as far as you can on long courses without giving much thought to strategy Middleton Hall will not be one of your favourites. If you enjoy thinking your way around a course using different strategies at each hole it will be one of your favourites. It is short for modern 18 hole courses but every hole is interesting. Facilities and staff are excellent. A very welcoming club.

First time visit and will certainly visit again.

This being my first visit, I certainly needed the course map, as you needed to get into the right position. It is not a long course so it will not suit the long hitters!! It needs thought.

Very enjoyable shorter course

I played the Senior Pairs Open here with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is my type of course. Not particularly long but demands that you think your way around the 18 holes. Every hole presents a different challenge and is presented in excellent condition. Members are very welcoming, practice facilities very good, food in the clubhouse very tasty. Highly recommended.

MHGC is a fairly standard parkland course – largely flat in nature and although quite short, the positioning of some of the hazards add to the test and help to make for an enjoyable round of golf. We used it as our team day, playing pairs and team games and felt the course worked ideally in that regard. I suspect if playing individually, that there would be good opportunity to score very well and bust your handicap. The course is fairly generous, aside from a couple of notably tight holes - 12th and 14th – both requiring very straight tee shots. The 6th ,7th and 8th holes all involve water which adds to the course’s character. \Off the course, the club couldn’t have been more welcoming – Mike and his team were incredibly helpful.

The recent weather seems to have caused some issues for this course. The T boxes and some of the fairways are like actual concrete. The ground is so hard on occasions its a struggle to play the ball.

The flow of the course would be very difficult without direction of where too go. Luckily i was playing with someone who had been there before.
With a bit of rain i am sure it would be just fine and is great value for money.

SUPER COURSE. MUST PLAY AGAIN

What a lovely course !! Everything about it was excellent, Greens, Fairways Tees and Bunkers(and I found one or two).Yes, it's flat, but it's not easy! We lost our way on one hole but the members were VERY friendly and put us right. We were given a course map but of course the one time I didn't use it Sod's law came in.
Plenty of trees and enough water to keep one thinking....My brother and I loved it so played the course twice. The club house facilities are second to none, the food is excellent and every member of staff I spoke to was friendly and could not have been more helpful. We also met the owner, Mike and his wife Mandy in the club house who made us feel very welcome. Two super days and we will play it again when in the area !!

Great course even if it was quite wet when I played, although held up to it very well, can't wait to play in the summer.

Thinking Mans Golf Course

You have to plan your way round this wonderful course. The driver never left the bag for the first 4 holes and only 3 times for the first 9 and probably 5 times for the whole round. enjoy the double dog leg 12th. only drawback was the greens were a bit bobbly.

Lovely interesting course, not for long hitters, you have to be accurate. A little bit drier due to the hot weather but very enjoyabl.

Course is good diary from 17 & 18 fairways cross and there is no signage to tell you where to go once you complete 17th hole. Am somewhat disgruntled by a lady member who approached us as visitors on the 18th hole to tell us we ruined her game, we were a 4 ball and there was a three ball behind us keeping pace but not overly pushing to play through and behind them was this two ball, including the lady member. We completed our round in a little over 4 hrs, not unreasonable for a four ball including a junior and feel the lady member has done a disservice to her club.
