Challenging but very fair course
Decided to have a round here as part of my mission to play every course in my home county of Fife. Course was in superb nick for the time of year. Greens (some were very tiny targets to be fair) had been hollow tined but rolled true. Bunkers were very tidy despite the autumn leaves. Fairways were amazingly good. Perfect turf underfoot and tidily mown. Had the pleasure of the company of a local wild deer on the 17th green too! Enjoyed this course a lot and would definitely come back in summer. Off course facilities are not much more than a starter hut, changing rooms and a bar but you get what you pay for!Reviewer Rating

Lochgelly GC. A gem of a course
Away working in Edinburgh, so thought I'd play a round in the area. Lochgelly GC was allowing visitors, so made the 23 mile trip over the Queensferry Bridge to try the course out. Well what a surprise. This is a fantastic little course, its great. Tee-boxes are in good condition, the green, lush undulating, sloping, hilly in places fairways are brilliant, with most shots having a bit of a sloping lie. Congratulations to the hard work of the green-keeping/fairway staff for presenting the course this way, and as for the greens, well they may have been a little on the slow side, but what a challenge they are. You'll be pushed to find a flat, even putt on any of the greens on the course and some of them are very small indeed, with run off areas making this a real challenge of a shot into the greens. The only issue was that the bunkers needed to be tidied up, with grass cutting around them, but they had plenty of sand in them , so wasn't to hard to get out of them. Lochgelly is not a long course and there are a lot of holes that you don't need a driver on, it's course management that you need. Tight tree-lined fairways and some that are very wide. The par-3's are great, ranging from just under 100 yards to a long 218 yards. A great variety of par-4's that make you think and use virtually every club in the bag. It wouldn't be fair to single out any hole as a favourite, but some memorable ones include the 4th, 5th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 16th and 17th. Do I recommend a visit to this little gem, you better believe it. You won't be disappointed. The clubhouse is an old style 1970's building that doesn't look too appealing, but was pleasant enough and the pro-shop stocked just what you need. I spoke to both Steve and Kevin Moran from the club and both were very helpful. If I get back to Edinburgh in the future, I'll be back to play here again.(Round played: Jul 2020 - Score: 85 Handicap: 17.1)
