What the club says: The excellent 18 hole par 71 course, boasts the excellent greens regarded by many as the best in the area. The challenging course layout offers the golf enthusiast a true test of all golfing skills.

Constructed on a sandy plain the course is almost guaranteed to be open even in the most inclement weather and is often relied upon by golfers from all parts of the county to be a ‘port in a storm’. The free draining soil allows for year round play from proper tees and proper greens.

Strangely disappointing

Hallelujah finally a course doing 6am tee times, which is brilliant, well done Holme Hall. At ?35 in the week we did think it was probably ?10 too much but we booked and turned up. Lovely chat with the steward there who was so inviting and helpful. We only really saw greenkeepers on the round, but that has to be a good sign surely. The course layout is pretty dull if I am totally honest, lots of straight holes which means similar clubs on each hole and no need to have a clever strategy. We were also surprised at some of the strange placement of yellow tees as challenging dog legs became straight short reachable holes which was different to when we played this last in 2019. Surprisingly tatty and not flat tee boxes, punishing rough and the strange tee positions meant we did not enjoy this as much as we should have for the money charged. This course is slope rating 121 off yellows yet the overly long rough and narrowly mown fairways makes it play higher which means the slope system is out of kilter here. What I love is the early tee times which even my own course refuse to open up, which for me means less income for the clubs. Will I return here? probably not for a while now as my favourite course in the area (Forest Pines) is ten yards down the road charging less and is 10 times better. But leading the charge on early tee times should get extra brownie points and show other courses that it can be done.

Gem of a winter course

Trying out courses in the area for potential membership. Played here on a cold misty day following lots of rain. Course was totally drained, bunkers pristine and course in really good condition - no temp tees or greens.

Great value

Played yesterday in a Pairs Competition and the course was in decent condition considering the amount of rain that has fallen in the past couple of weeks. I know that we are in November however a slight disappointment were the greens were not as good as we expected and not up to the standard of our home club. Overall great value and an added bonus was that an excellent Carvery meal was thrown in as part of the package.
An enjoyable course and I would return and play it again in the summer.

Well drained course

Even though we had torrential rain for 24 hours leading up to our round, the course drained fantastically well. Unfortunatley the fairways and greens could have been cut tighter. The greens were a tad "wooly" and on some of the holes it was hard to differentiate between the fairway and the first cut.

Great course, customer service 5*

We turned up on the off chance we could play, having met with 18 temps at Forest Pines down the road. They were very accommodating and got us on within 30 minutes. Course was in lovely condition and even the three temps were very playable. Nice open course which gave me (9.3) and my playing colleague (6.2) a nice easy stress free round. We would certainly return and will be arranging that soon. Would certainly recommend just for the condition of the course, layout is good and importantly the staff and Members were all very likeable which is not always the case when you visit new places.

A contrasting course with some holes very much tree lined and others with a heath-land feel with lots of heather bordering the fairways. The back nine offers some challenging holes where you need to control direction to avoid reloading. An enjoyable round and the greens were running beautifully.

Course of 2 halves. Nice greens

First 9 very much up and down with plenty of fairway but tree lines. Longer half so not many medium irons unless you are longish off the tee. More variety in the 2nd 9 and much more placing of the ball required. Tighter and shorter. Lovely finishing hole from the drive. Bunkers, though not a lot of sand, enough to be able to play your shot and greens resceptive and quick and consisitent
