The course on a dry day have perfect fairways and greens. The rough is very bad as the grass is so high and thick it is very difficult to find a ball hence nearly every fourball team suffered and reduced the play to a dead slow The extreme bad weather did not help and parly flooding of the course did not help

Excellent greeens - true and fast. Course fee is £18 but with only 10 greens and 14 or so tee positions it's a little repetitive. The course is tight in many places bounded by fences securing neighbouring MoD Establishments, but it plays like a links course and the wind will always be a factor here as the Stokes Bay coastline is close-by.

Windy day, 9 hole course with different tees to make 18.
Some par 4s drivable. Green consistent.

I enjoyed the course and would recommend it, however the clubhouse is a bit ropey. The course makes you think and the greens were very good. Enjoyable par 3 18th

being a 9-hole course, it can get crowded - but the greens are excellent and the views over the Solent fantastic. With water, gorse bushes and fences protecting the course edges, this course is tougher than it first appears

Golf worth thinking about

You could probably play this entire course with a seven iron and score reasonably, but where's the fun in that? You'll need to think about every shot on a course that can be very fiery on the fairway and blistering fast on the greens. Think about flight and height, think about line and length and think about the water hazards - some dykes and some lakes. Tight lies, subtle breaks on the greens and bounces that only a links course can provide. Then take time to admire The Solent and the Isle of Wight. It's a tricky course with loads of character and will give you a better chance second time around when you know what to expect. Enjoy the friendly clubhouse, the good food and pray for a gentle breeze rather than a wind meant for sailing. There are a couple of holes where you may have to wait for spectators to pass out of range, but that just gives you a chance to think about the shot you're going to play. Brute strength isn't a requirement, patience and thought is.

A quirky course with some spectacular views

A quirky course where some greens double up for the back nine. Fabulous views over the Solent

Tough little course especially when the wind is strong. Greens were nicely mowed but a bit slow.
Members were friendly with good food and drink options.

SSAFA Society Charity Day

This was a venue we used to have a society charity day with a group of 20.
The downside of this course is that it is around the same course twice with different tee positions for 7 of the holes. Although it makes the hole slightly different I wouldn't wish to play here when it is busy and you are constantly having to wait for golfers on the back 9 to clear the fairway before you can tee off on the front 9. But nonetheless a good course and very friendly club house. Thank you
