Links course - really poor condition. Doing 'twilight deal' at £12 which is cheap but still not worth it

Links course is absolutely crap. Not worth playing at all. Even for beginners. Don't do it. Lakes course is good though. Greens need work.

This review is purely for the Links Course - extremely poorly kept course. Bunkers full of water, patchy and bumpy greens and the fairways were riddled with puddles - should have been advised that it wasn't worth a penny to play on!!

Not great

Lakes course was ok, Bunkers should all be GUR! Patchy in places. Clubhouse very worn down. Like a maze with poor signage inside. Range was shut on a sunday to.

Links course is great for beginners but is a little flat and uninteresting and probably tricky when windy

The course was was well kept and challenging without being hard and pretty quiet. The greens were in nice condition. Tee positions are good and its not too hilly. Having a driving range on site is great. Have played many clubs it the area over the last 4 weeks looking for a membership was very keen to become a member of this club but due to their pricing policy and feeling discriminated against because of my age, with no apology or concession offered by their management i Could not recommend this course I am planning now to Join Burnham on crouch as their Management are very professional and accommodating.

Lakes course was a reasonable challenge but the links course was quite bland and more of an open parkland course, not really linksy at all. Bedrooms were of a good standard but food was very disappointing. The biggest problem was that the bar did not have any bitter and also ran out of lager and Guinness! They said they were changing supplier and wanted to clear old stock prior to introducing the new range but it seemed more likely that bills had not been paid!

Played in January, course was very wet with standing water on most fairways and bunkers full of water although the greens were OK. Didn't seem to be any restrictions on use of trollies though. In the summer the course would be quite short at 5900 yards but the greens are small to compensate. The course is very flat, some holes have water features but by and large its quite samey. There is no map on the score card so working out where you are going can be quite challenging. Be aware that if you are staying in the hotel offers are available on the green fees which we only found out about after playing! Don't think I would play again.
