Played in very unseasonably fantastic weather in March 2012. First time out here even though I'd been past many times and always thought I'd like to play there. However it didn't really live up to expectations. The front 9 is really a pretty non-descript run of holes typical of a lot of courses that are on converted farmland. The par-3 third hole is a neat little challenge, protected by water to the fore and bunkers and OOB round the sides and back but otherwise it is a long-ish but ordinary experience. The back 9 is altogether better, more hilly and with mature woodland, a lot more picturesque and some interesting challenges. However the course generally was in pretty poor condition - bunkers looked shabby, greens were not in great nick and the fairways had a lot of chunks missing out of them. Not what I would have expected from is normally a fairly pricey, private, 'championship' course.... As a general warning I'd say try and keep out of the rough as much as you can - it can be is very unforgiving - extremely 'tussock-y'. The club house is lovely though. We got in on a £14.50 per person deal which gave us 18 holes plus a bacon butty and tea/coffee - if it was much dearer than that I'd have said you get better value from some of the local municipals (Walton Hall for example) and if Mottram Hall wants to maintain any semblence of championship qulity, it'll need to up its game considerably. I'm glad I played there, I had great day, but the course quality is far too low to entice me back there any time soon.

The golf course is in great condition for the time of year, I play off 3 handicap and have played some great courses over the years, this certainly compares! Service from the bar and shop were excellent. Simon was accommodating with getting us off earlier. I would ignore the recent poor reviews as they clearly don’t appreciate what a course is like. If you want excellent conditions then I would suggest you go abroad this time of the year.

disappointed with the condition of the greens although a fair share was down to golfers not repairing their pitch marks. Formby Hall's greens were much better this winter

I really enjoyed playing this course but having the rough as long as it was made a hard course a lot harder.

A typical McKenzie design and also one of the toughest De Vere tracks you will find. Long course so big hitters will fair better. As usual with McKenzie courses the greens are large and always kept in great condition. One of a few courses in the area but is a must none the less.

Good course, especially when you can benefit from some of the great deals on green fees. The two nines are fairly different, the front nine fairly opn parkland and the back nine is mainly played through tree lined fairways with a bit more shape and character. Nice condition and always good to play.

Played Mottram Hall on the GTour and was very impressed.
Fantastic setting in beautiful Cheshire countryside.
The course was in very condition and the greens were superb! The back 9 is harder, more undulating but a good test of golf, keep it on the fairway though on the back 9!!!
The car park and public areas were very tidy, the staff also very polite and helpful.
Hope to play Mottram Hall again and would highly recommend it.

Really enjoyable course, greens excellent, course well looked after. Front and back nines differ the front 9 being flatter. We managed a 4 ball for £60 fantastic value. I intend to stay and play again. Extremley friendly golf shop,

Great Course, the front nine is not to daunting, however the back nine presents a real challenge to the mid to high handicapper. look forward to playing there again.

Hotel chain course, which is worth a visit if in the area. Usually on correct greens all year. Some difficult holes around the course, as well as the odd piece of water coming into play.

The course is a great test for a mid to high handicap, the course is split into 2 halves with the front 9 of parkland been quite open & back 9 woodland been a lot tighter. The greens were exceptionally fast for the time of year and the course overall was well maintained, I have played many other De Vere courses and found some to be a little clicky and pretentious but here the staff and local members were approachable and friendly. Would definately recommend.

Good course and well kept, played here early November and the greens were quite quick suggesting if it was a summer's day the knees would be twitch on some putts.
Contrasting course of 2 halves and you need to score well on the front 9 as it's much tighter and harder on the back 9.
Well defined fairways and easy walking, bunkers guarding the greens are perfectly placed and some bunkers on the back 9 placed at the elbows of the doglegs.
Thoroughly recommend playing here, staff very friendly and helpful, only downside is cost in the bar but hey if you've had a good day so what
