The course and greens are in dreadful condition, largely to do with only one greenkeeper who has no transport due breakdown and have not been repaired, its wakefield council are they really that skint. None of the greens have been roped off or marked to keep trolleys and buggies away from the approches which are very muddy and have very inconsistent bounce, therefore punish good shots. The greens have lacked irrigation for past two summers and so impossible to play come dry conditions.
The worst offence is the use of buggies during poor wet conditions which have trashed much of the course and are allowed on even when all normal greens are shut, apparantely the club pro receives the buggy money and therefore his pocket is far more important than the course.
Very few people pay to play more than once due to the state of the course generally.
The course was and could be very good with the right management but nobody seems to have any influence over anything and the council have refused to invest in it apart from build a new clubhouse which most members would rather see burned down so they could repair the old one which is perfect.
I could go on but I think you get the message. The council needs to see this as well as the pro and any commitee members because it is how most members under the age of 65 feel. I will be joining a different club in future this club does not deserve my membership, only OAPs who pay peanuts for it will carry being members, although their fourballs dominate the course and make for unbelievably slow play upto about 3pm

Course improving
Played the course today. A lot better condition than when we played it a few years ago. Greens and fairways in good condition. Bunkers still in a poor state but have been told they are next on the list. Tee boxes could do with some attention. Otherwise well worth a visit. Pretty long course but not hilly. Friendly staff and nice clubhouse where we were made very welcome. Had a nice chat to steward and member of the golf club. Will be going again (hopefully when bunkers are sorted). Nice price for a round of golf (4 ball special)(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 88 Handicap: 16.3)

Played Lupset after lockdown
Greens are in great condition lovely lush & green. Aways said it's needs distance markers. Fairways are very soft. To be fair to be expected after the rain we have had. Lupset as never had good drainage.(Round played: May 2021 - Score: 90 Handicap: 13.5)

Value for Money
Greens were in excellent condition, as good as many a private course. The course overall was in reasonable condition. There could be a significant improvement with some thoughtful cutting and shaping of the fairways that would increase the challenge for all standards of player.Overall though, well worth the £15 to play

It's back!!!!
WELL DONE LUPSET...played today 1st time since last year and was well impressed by its turn around. Reviewed it last year and mentioned it was getting there. Today I can confirm it is almost there!. Greens in excellent condition. Fairways same ( cut regular so no big lumps of grass cuttings left everywhere). Sand in bunkers ( some could do with edging up but put that down to wildlife or vandals). Teeboxes need a little more work but i know the powers that be will turn them around.Big thumbs up to all parties concerned into making this golf course how was ( if not better) what seems a very long time ago!!!. Made welcome from the minute we stepped into the shop. Thank you also to the people who stuck by this course to make it all happen and didn't wash there hands on it like many would have done ( Grange Park take note).highly recommended it and please continue doing what you are doing.Reviewer Rating

improving!!!
Been over a year since last played here. Improved since last time we came. Greens are much better. Fairways seem to be cut more regular so no great chunks of grass cuttings left .But bunkers and tee boxes are in a state..still worth a visit though. Friendly and helpful staff.Reviewer Rating
