Bushey Hall is my local course and has served me very well. It is a fun course and usually in decent condition, especially in late summer where it really comes into its own.
It has a good mix of holes, with the 1st being a rather daunting start to the round, being a 440+ yard par 4 that doglegs right. Throw into the mix that you have to drive over valley (with the 9th green below you) and usually with a small audience on the tee, many a player have topped the ball through the ladies and into the stream. The course offers a good variety of holes requiring different shots and has a couple of blind shots too. Holes 3,4,5 and 6 pose a challenge even for the low-mid handicapper - hole 5 is a particularly interesting/strange hole that divides opinion.
No doubt the signature holes are the back to back par 3's at 9/10 - walking off these with pars leaves one feeling extremely satisfied. The back 9 is slightly easier than the front 9, although holes 13 and the stroke 1 index 16th are both long par 4's that require a long drives and second shots to stand a chance of hitting the green in regulation. The 18th is also a tough finishing hole with a hidden ditch placed to catch out the unaware.
The only negatives are that at peak times the pace of play can be extremely slow and the club have become very lax with regards to slow play/etiquette and dress codes. There are also a couple of public footpaths that attract non-golfers onto the course/dog walkers.
I recommend playing this course during late summer evenings and it really does make for a pleasant experience.

Well maintained course; each hole seems to be too close to the next one for me. The field was VERY full which meant we had to wait on every shot!!

I was playing in a society day, the bacon roll was hot and tasty. The course was in good condition considering the amount of rain recently. The greens had been worked on, but still rolled well enough. The fairways and tees were in good condition. The layout is simple with several memorable holes; the 5th a narrow par 5 where club selection is important; the 9th and 10th are the two par 3's by the clubhouse. The food and drink afterwards were nice.

Very nice course indeed, good to look at, a fair challenge. The par 3s are a challenge, the 4s are varied and different. Signature hole 5 is an absolute beauty. On the day we were there it was obvious the course was well staffed with green keepers paying attention to detail round the greens. Yardage markers amongst the best I've seen. Clubhouse is a bit tired, I'm guessing it's listed. Well worth it.

Nice Course
Fairways could do with a bit of TLC but no real complaints. Nice pace of play with some interesting Par 3s. Quite challenging in patches.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 78 Handicap: 8.6)

Very nice day for golf course is good for greens etc but could do with sharper fairways etc
Greens a bit too well watered for this time of year very soft in places you expect faster and more exciting greens!
