Aberdare Golf Club was founded in 1921 as a Parkland course at Abernant, which is about a mile from the centre of Aberdare. This picturesque 18-hole golf course is famous for its mature Oak trees and was also a home club for one of Britains most famous golfers Mr Dai Rees, who was former Ryder Cup Captain. Dai Rees' Father was the club professional from 1938 to 1953 and his Mother was the Stewardess of the club. Aberdare Golf Club was the place where Dai Rees received his first golf lesson, the thirteenth hole was one of his favourite holes.
