Abbey Hotel Golf Club
Built in the late 1970's the Abbey course has now matured into a fine, championship standard parkland course measuring over 6,500 yards. Designed by Donald Steel, one of Britain's leading course architects the course has been extensively upgraded and lengthened in recent years.
The layout includes matured trees, lakes and on the whole the fairways are wide with the rough not too punishing, the picturesque 7th is a 192 yard drive from the medal tee with the green surrounded on three sides by the river arrow. The 13th is a challenging uphill par 4 drive between two mature oak trees at 250 yards with the green concealed out of sight at the top of the hill. Contact Information

Location: From the M42 motorway, Junction 2, take the Redditch exit, A441, for approximately 2 miles. At the first roundabout turn left, signposted Redditch Town Centre. Greens very good. Pro explained to us about new holes- 2nd hole is a superb par 3. Best value than most on teeofftimes. Even got a greenfee loyalty card so will be back!

Had a course lesson with the Pro Rob Davis last Saturday. The golf course was brilliant - my first time playing it. Made even better by the coaching from Rob! Will be back!

Great layout, great value. Excellent, friendly pro shop staff. Course & greens in good condition for this time of year. Will definately play this course a lot in 2012. Great greenfee offers on teeofftimes, but also good discounts on their own website.

Good course for match play format. A couple of the holes going through renovation at the moment but the rest of the course in good condition and some interesting holes. I got the impression that its more geared up for guests and corporate than a members club though. Lots of other better value options in the Midlands for stay and play.

Terrible day for golf,rained all round but the course drainage was excellant,only two greens had standing water. greens in good condition for this time of year. Staff in pro shop were welcoming,will definately go again.

The course is in very good condition except for the new hole on the back 9, but work is evident and should be ready for next season. Golf is very good price but refreshments are a bit pricy.

Played twice in two years and they changed the layout and the way you played the course the second time around. Superb greens and the whole resort is great for societies or team events as the 18th which is a great finishing hole is over looked by the balcony.

I played the course for the first time in two years in mid March 2011 and it has been altered ready to enable chalets to be built around the original 3rd hole. The new 2nd hole is awful and the front nine is now 8 holes with the back having 10 holes. The extra hole on the back has been created under telegraph poles and lines which interfere with most approach shots to the green. The green is small and shoved into a corner. Generally the course was not in particularly good condition with alot of perimeter ground damage to a number of greens and the greens were probably suffering from winter use with putting unpredicatable at best.
On the up side it was only £15 for the round.The Course

Hmmmmm, not the best of courses. Only 5 straight holes on course and 3 of those are par 3's! All rest are dog leg left-rights. Greens and fairways poor when i played (Early April) Wouldn't play there again.

Great course and nice layout. Not the hardest or most testing course but nicely set-up and laid out to make it interesting and worthy of playing.
The Golfshake.com North vs South 2010 match will take place here and it will certainly be a great matchplay venue with many risk and reward holes.
