The Belfry Academy - Golfshake Season Starter

By: Golf Shake | Fri 12 Jun 2015

Do you care deeply about improving your game? Do you want to improve? Do you want to shoot lower scores?  Most golfers will answer 'YES' to all of those questions, but how many of us actually do anything about it and more importantly what can you do about it?

One way that Golfers use Golfshake is to track their stats via the Scoretracker System. This helps them identify their strengths and weaknesses and as a result work on areas that need improvement. Many see dramatic results.

We identified several such Golfers all of whom track their stats on a regular basis and invited them to The Belfry Academy where PGA professionals Chris Ryan and Ben Frost had already been busy analysing their stats from 2014.

Ian Pilkington, a 14 handicapper explained how having his stats analysed ahead of his coaching by a PGA pro proved to be a real benefit: "The fact that the pros had our stats and conducted an interview beforehand meant they could immediately focus on the areas we wanted to improve which were clearly backed by the Golfshake stats. This gave us more tuition and practice time"

Ian went on to explain how beneficial having the right practice set up was:"The facilities at our disposal were exceptional. The use of the practice greens and bunkers enabled us to practice the tips and drills given by the pros, and to have access and use of a Trackman Launch Monitor was an invaluable experience with instant results".

Bruce Vaga a 7 handicapper also found stat based coaching to be a big benefit to his coaching experience:"Firstly the PGA Pro's took my Golfshake.com round stats and analysed the weakest areas of my game.

Through effective and true stat recording they could very quickly determine that my weak areas were not necessarily what I thought my weak areas were and set about an improvement program to improve these statistics and thus my game and ultimately my shots per round (every golfers dream). "

The Golfshake Readers final say on their two days at the Belfry Academy

Ian Pilkington - "Quality instruction is a must if you are determined to improve your game and I would highly recommend the pros and the facilities at the Belfry"

Richard Moore - "The Academy is very well presented with great Pros on hand. Top notch facilities including Trackman, so all in all the  facilities are excellent if i lived closer i would definitely join the academy to receive ongoing help/tweaks to my game!"

Bruce Vaga - "The benefits of the PGA Academy and the Professionals there is there knowledge of all aspects of the game.  Not just clubs, swings, swing paths etc. but the understanding of game analysis, statistical data, how that data can tie back to a shot on the 7th and the poor tee shot that cost you the round".

It was through effective statistical analysis that game improvement plans were easy to identify, tuition planned and given and a schedule of improvement benchmarked.

As with all things golf, change takes time to reap the reward, but certainly I can see a trend of improvement through my statistics already, even though the odd round is wayward as change is bedding in, the use of the statistical data in the first instance was ground breaking in enabling the PGA Academy to target specific, key, areas of my game to enable real shot saving round improvement"

And in case you were wondering, all the Golfshake readers rated their experience as 10/10!
