Smartcaddy SC201e Review

By: Adam Smith | Tue 30 Jul 2013

Longest Golf Day ChallengeRecently I took part in the Macmillan Longest Day challenge where I endured 16 hours of golf in a day, teeing off at just gone 5am and ending about 9pm in the evening.

The enormity of the task cannot be hidden or wrapped in cotton wool; it was hard.

When I enquired about the possibility of using a trolley I didn’t think it would actually save the day. I can honestly say if I tried to carry my clubs for the 72 holes the task would not have been completed.

I’ve trialled a few trolleys in the past but Smart Caddy SC201e is up there with one of the best.

Smart Caddy SC201e

The Smart Caddy range of lithium powered electric trolleys are constructed from aerospace quality aluminium in a distinctive wave design. Each trolley is produced at the company’s facility in Nottingham allowing owner Mike Lomas to oversee every product build to ensure maximum quality.

All the fasteners used are marine quality stainless steel to give greater longevity and enhanced appearance and every trolley uses the latest Li - Ion battery technology which will cover 36 holes with ease. The light weight batteries also reduce the overall weight of the trolleys by an impressive margin, whilst also allowing them to fold down to a compact size for easy transportation.

Smart Cady SC201eThere are a number of options to choose from including a Single motor, Twin motor or the top of the range twin motor with Remote control.

I used the SC201e which was compact when it was packed away and very easy to put up come tee off time. It was also very lightweight and easy to use once the bag was packed and ready to go.

The speed is controlled with one finger, by rolling the control knob to your desired walking pace. Then by touching the on/off button the caddy will stop, retouch the on/off button and the caddy resumes the last selected speed. There is also a timer function, which when selected will send the Smartcaddy approximately 25 metres and stop automatically.

I thoroughly enjoyed the day and enjoyed using the Smart Caddy.

When we were finally finished, the trolley detached very easily and folded down in seconds ready to be packed away.

I’ve never really considered buying a trolley as I’ve been happy carrying but after using the Smart Caddy for the day I’m seriously considering purchasing one.
