Golfshake Ambassadors Showcase TravisMathew Apparel

TravisMathew has long been a popular staple in the United States, but is only now growing in prominence within the minds of European golfers, following a market launch and the announcement that it had partnered with the European Tour to become the circuit's official apparel brand.

Designing stylish and quality products that are compatible both on and off the golf course, it's easy to see why TravisMathew holds such a distinguished reputation, something enhanced by the new Spring Summer 2020 Collection, delivering Lifestyle Performance, a versatile range of garments that would adorn the wardrobe of any golfer in search of that striking but classy look.

We have sought to learn more about TravisMathew, in 2019, Golfshake Ambassador Kevin Paver toured the brand's HQ at Huntington Beach, California, while more recently, Howley Hall PGA Professional Ryan Rastall discovered what was happening closer to home, meeting Stewart Clare, the TM European Sales Manager at the UK HQ, to gain an insight behind the philosophy that underpins the brand, how the apparel is constructed, and taking the chance to see the products that were released onto shelves for this season.

Luckily, the entire Team of Golfshake Ambassadors were sent branded gear for this year, offering them a taste of what TravisMathew is about, wearing their clothing on the golf course, including outerwear top, polo shirts, and cap.

It's a fresh experience for the Ambassadors, so we have caught up with them to see how the new apparel has settled in.

Rob Treanor says: "I have found myself reaching for the TravisMathew gear on non-golf days. The outerwear sits easily amongst the most comfortable clothing I own and has a feel of quality to it. The tops are breathable which is great for the warm weather but are also a really good fit and have great shape. These are absolutely my go to pieces for when I am playing at the moment but they are also smart enough to wear for work calls!"

Appreciating the fit, Kevin Heggie adds: "The fit is excellent. I'm a reasonably normal sized person (67kg, 5 8), but find that small items can still be too big, and certainly long. However, the polos and top fit really well.

"The styling across the range is really good, and provide something for everyone. The items we've got are at the conservative end of the spectrum, but I really like the fact there's also some funky options which would work both on and off the course."

Richard Moore has been loyal to other brands, but he is hugely impressed by TM. "The quality of TravisMathew is way better than what I normally wear. That jumper is so nice, I wear it all the time. Even when not playing golf as it is subtle!

"I was so excited when wearing the jumper at The Warwickshire when I stopped halfway for lunch with my friends I suddenly found the extra pockets that I didn’t expect!"

Among the most travelled Ambassadors, Andy Picken has enjoyed wearing TravisMathew so far.

"At my age I am not fashion conscious but do like to look smart on and off the golf course," he says. "When I travel to represent Golfshake I wear my branded clothing whilst driving and after the round. It has to look good for several hours and having been sat in a car. When travelling to warmer climates I like my gear to be easy to hand wash, simply needing a hanger to dry. This gear fits that requirement beautifully. The colour palette is excellent and I like the quirky company history and ethos. I am one of the oldest swingers in town but genuinely love to wear this apparel as it looks and feels so good on and off the course."

Finally, Mel Davies concurs with what his fellow Ambassadors have said. "I’ve worn both shirts once, the top twice, and the cap a few times so far. You can tell from the feel and the fit that it’s all top quality gear. The cap feels great and doesn’t get the usual sweat patches that most others do.

"The shirts are light and very comfortable. At no time through the swing have I felt inhibited in any way and the same goes for the top. The thing I really love about the top as well as the obvious style and quality are the pockets on it.

"I’m very impressed with all the TravisMathew gear. Great look, very stylish and can be worn in and off the course."
