Wychwood Park Golf Club Reviews & Information

98 ratings from Golfshake members

What the club says: The superb 6,722 yard par 72 championship course at Wychwood Park has been constructed to European PGA Tour standards and features a fully computerised irrigation system; the superb tees and large greens are also constructed to USGA specifications. There are four separate teeing grounds to suit all standards of golfer and the course is kept in supreme condition throughout the year. Having opened in 2001 this young gem is beginning to mature into a real championship classic, leaving many critics singing its praises despite its relative youth. The course also features numerous lakes, streams and bunkers, making it one of the most picturesque new courses in the UK & Ireland. Wychwood Park now adds the European tour Q school to its growing reputation.

What Golfshake says: A certain golfshake favourite and a brilliant test of golf. Every hole is different and you need to be on your game to play well here.

An interesting course, probably more suited to lond hitters, but accuracy was required, due to the thick and plentiful rough.

Course in really good condition, but greens playing very slow i think they needed cutting, however it was at the back end of the day.

An excellent track that given the poor weather was in reasonable condition. Long and tricky but the overriding factor here is overplay and a long round.....be prepared for 5.5 hours however well you play. Poor organisation and too many golfers on the course

I do like Wychwood Park but it wasn\'t in the greatest of conditions.

Fairways were very dry and hard, like we\'ve had a hot summer, and greens had been hollow tined/top dressed, a lot of top dressing so putting was a lottery!

Not an easy course at all with lots of walking from green to tee or around roped off areas.

Bunkers were very good as was the clubhouse.

Looking forward to playing it again in better conditions.

This is a nice course, pretty tough considering the length, fairways are pretty wide but miss them at your peril

John H rated 5 out of 5 - Aug 5 2012
After arriving in a torrential downpour with thunder thrown in, the course recovered very quickly and with some sun started to dry very well, until more heavy rain later! A demanding opening hole, par 5 followed by a tricky par 3. The following three par 4's all pose a challenge with well bunkered greens. A difficult par 3 at 7th followed by very challenging par 5 and par 4 both needing substantial carry off the tee. An uphill par 4th at 9th giving the option of calling it a day! Good par 4 at 10th followed by possibly the easiest hole on the course

Played the course several times over the last few years enjoy the testing conditions. With the weather poor this summer the course, tee boxes etc were looking a but battered and if its busy the rounds expand to 5 hours which takes the edge off a enjoyable afternoon.
Not really a course for mid to high handicappers
