Wychwood Park Golf Club
The superb 6,722 yard par 72 championship course at Wychwood Park has been constructed to European PGA Tour standards and features a fully computerised irrigation system; the superb tees and large greens are also constructed to USGA specifications. Played this monster a few times, the pro describes it as challenging rather than hard! Rolls up and down through a gated housing estate and is generally well prepared. Greens can be rock hard in summer but are generally pretty good, difficult s they are mostly heavily bunkered. Feels very much a corporate course, a bit soulless but enjoyable with it's very own amen corner at 14, 15 and 16 - all tricky holes.
Have never managed to get round it in less than 5 hours though....The Course

My favourite of the De Vere venues probably because I always play well around there. Not only that it's set up just to my liking. Very much like an American style course, wide fairways, large undulating greens and all the little things in place which tips the balance from a very good course to an exellent one. I.e Yargades at 200, 150 and 100, yardage book correct all little things like that. Great test of golf.

Played here on my anniversary weekend.
Weather was superb, as was the course. This is one serious test of golf with hazards a plenty to catch any wayward shots. I was coasting at level par thru 6 holes and then arrived at the 7th hole......the hardest hole I've ever played! After a triple bogey I managed to pull the round back together.
Really enjoyed the course noteably the perfect tee boxes, number of distance markers and sublime greens. The staff in the shop were very helpful and informative.
Best part of the day? Sinking a 14 foot birdie on the 18th infront of the hotel terrace which was packed with members, then sinking an ice cold beer in the Claret Jug bar!!
Seriously recommend this to any mid to low handicap golfers after a true test of golf. I doubt high handicappers would enjoy it so much! The Course

The course is a tough challenge to even the better players of the game, the back 9 esp. but i was dissapointed at the state of all the greens, too many patches of sand and soil that spoiled my view of the course.

Very good golf course.Tough lay out and 1 of De Vere's best courses.
Overall the course was in excellent condition.
I thought the cost of food and drink was ok for such a venue, certainly wasn't horrendously expensive.
The hotel bedrooms are a bit disappointing though and need updating!
Would recommend the golf course to anyone and look forward to playing it again. The Course

Played in December. Weather was a bit bleak, but felt it was a good all round course. Certainly want to come back in the summer for a game.

Very pleasant Pro Shop staff and a friendly welcome. On the course the greens were in good condition. Could do with more signs directing you from green to tee.

A hard, hard course, but a real beauty not to be missed - one of DeVeres finest, but as with all their venues beer and everything else at the 19th is quailty but at a price.

I always like to play this course, great challenge and test of golf. Some say hard but just requires some thinking which makes it even better. A few walks between green to tee so not a fast 4 hour round and buggies could be worthwhile to some.

Fantastic layout and in extremely good condition. This course is very difficult but if you play then swallow your pride and play off the tees that suit your ability as there are Blue, White, Yellow and Green to choose from.

There are a few issues I would like to bring up about the choice of this course for the Golf Open 2010. Firstly, The yellow tees were moved forward on almost every teebox, even as far front as the red tees. As I am used to playing from the White (men's) tournament teeboxes, this put the fairway bunkers much more reachable. The condition of the bunkers due to the past night's rain were verging on unplayable. Surely not championship caliber. The pin positions were placed on too many sloping lies which in the very windy conditions made them virtually unputtable. This course definitely made you think your way around and by the 12th hole I was tired of all the thinking!
I suggest next year, if we are still playing here, that the committee meet with the course committee and give suggestions as to tee positions and pin locations. The Course

very nice course the first few holes i found easy then there was the back nine this course will catch you out big hitters and small with water and fairway bunkers just waiting to catch you out i would love to play this again then i would think about useing irons on some off the hole off the tee all in all a fantastic course

This is a well setup course. Each hole offers something else but for me the course doesnt really get going until the 6th and then from then on, there are some great parts. I most enjoyed the 13th and 14th, probably the furtherst from the club house, it reminds me a little of the closing holes at Carnoustie were the meandering brook makes you think. I think there is a good score available here, although you need to pick them up going out and hold onto them coming in.
Would like to go back in drier conditions and give it a good go.The Course

Very good course certainly not one for the "Newbie" to golf. very strong Par 5's and need to be straight, excellently looked after and presented, good use of bunkers and hazards.
The rough has recently been cut back as previously it was manic, easy to lose a ball and plenty of water in play.
Thoroughly recommended.The Course

A very tricky course which holds the record for "stealing" the most balls off me in one round! That says it all ... nearly. Very well kept and run. This course calls for course management if ever there was one!
