by Darren Ramowski on 12th November 2008Good corporate venue with 2 courses. Played the Lakes in April 2008.
Does seem to get fairly busy and although you start with a par 5 so everyone seems to get off well, you tend to get held up on the par 3 second. The Course

Played in a society day on a cold November morning. The staff and facilities were great, very well priced for a society.
The fairways were in great condition and given the time of year the greens were fantastic and all ran very true. We'd also just started to have some frost and due to some good course management we still managed to play on full tees and greens. Definitely worth a repeat visit. The Course

Facilities are great and the practice area supplies the balls!
Can't really comment on the price given I played in a Corporate event but this is a course worth playing if you get the chance. The Course

by Darren Ramowski on 18th February 2008Played in Feb08 on a very cold and frosty day. Course was in excellent condition, played off mats but on full greens for the time of year, although some greens very hard and frozen.
Overall this was a great course and some nice challenging holes nothing to mundane, varied and a good test. The greens were exceptionally difficult and like up turned tea saucers which made putting tricky also very large which is the reason for my high number of 3 putts!
Definitely worth a visit especially as they take 2 for 1's.The Course

Nice open course when we played although some fairways are fairly tight. Very flat course so makes for an easy track to get round which made for a very enjoyable round when we played. Looking forward to going back and playing in the summer.
Great course, well kept and great reception from the members. The Course

by Darren Ramowski on 11th February 2008Not a bad little course for a 9 hole practice round. Decent mix of par 3's and 4's some nice features and very good value.
Nice size club house, excellent driving range and they also have a small shop. Fairly close to the city so I think they a pretty big on tuition.
They also introduced a small par 3 course a while back but I've never played. The Course

by Darren Ramowski on 25th January 2008Given the time of year and weather conditions this was not a bad course for the price and on a 2 for 1 in Jan 2008.
The greens impressed me, similar priced courses in the area have terrible greens, here there were no temp greens, all greens were pretty dry, well drained and seemed true.
Also the course was fairly open so made the fairways seem wide and at times you didn't even know a hole had any rough.
Only drawback was some tees/greens seemed to cross over which I would guess when the course is busy this causes hold ups, I played when it was very quiet so not a problem. The Course

by Darren Ramowski on 25th January 2008Great course, was in excellent condition in November despite some heavy rain. Having played this a few years ago I was concerned about parts of the course being water logged. They have definitely done some great work with drainage and the course was in excellent condition.
Nice course with some interesting holes and set in fantastic surroundings of the Derbyshire countryside.
Club, members was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit back especially at £17.50 for mid week rounds and you can use 2 for 1.The Course

The course was in fantastic condition, lush fairways and very well kept greens which were extremely true. The greens are superb and some of the best in the East Mids.
To say the course is only 20 years old it's very mature with a lot of tree lined fairways making this a good challenge for all golfers.
This would make a great venue for a competition or society day.The Course

by Darren Ramowski on 29th August 2007I played this course in the golfshake.com event in May 2007. Despite all the rain we had had the course was in excellent condition, greens were good and true and fairways well kept. I found the front 9 okay but tough going on the back 9 given the length of the course.
Great facilities given it's a hotel and conference venue as well as a golf course. Definiately worth a visit. The Course

Wouldn't recommend this driver it's okay but feel as though power is lost at impact. I can hit a 3 iron almost as far and using a old Callaway Big Bertha from 5 years with a 270ish cc head I can out drive it.The Course

by Darren Ramowski on 12th March 2007Played this course in Oct 2006 in a GST society day. Unforuntately for everyone playing it was near torrential rain for the whole day which also meant trollies/buggies banned. Despite this the course allowed hedeghog trollies on the course and given I was organising a society day the club was in contact with me several days before on the course conditions.
Overall the course was in good condition and played well
Great facilities, great course and great friendly staff.
Only critism I would have it that there is a long walk from the 9th to the 10th tee and guess that this is because the venue is first and foremost a hotel/conference center and the golf course came 2nd, so the holes got dropped in where possibleThe Course

by Darren Ramowski on 12th March 2007Everytime I play this course the layout changes. The reduction from 18 to 9 holes is good given you can get a quick round in and with it being a par 3 the holes have increased. Now over half are over 120 yards so you get to use longer irons where previously the longest hole was 120yards.
Worth playing to improve your short game over 9 holes but a bit pricey for what it is.
Greens well kept.The Course

by Darren Ramowski on 12th March 2007Played in a GST society day in Feb 2007 after several weeks of rain.
Obviously in Feb playing off mats and some temp greens in force. The front 9 was very wet(boggy) but okay and suprisingly the back 9 was completly different with no temp greens and playing well.
Definitely worth a visit in nicer weather, the facilities were great but could do with a range. The Course

by Darren Ramowski on 12th March 2007For a municipal course this is a very reasonable and generally well kept course. Although a few fairways had tyre tracks on them from motorcycles deciding it would be good to see if they could burn circles in the turf.
Played this course in December and despite the conditions the course played well. Also the course was going through a hole change but hadn't updated the scorecards so this made it slightly difficult knowing where to go and scoring for visitors. The Course

This is a good course and would test most golfers with the layout and range of bunkers. Given it's the Belfry the facilities were second to none.
Can't really comment on price because I was playing through Corporate membershipThe Course

by Darren Ramowski on 12th March 2007Unfair to comment really, the club is going through a lot of changes and development at present so the pro shop and bar where in temp use and work is still ongoing on the Masters courses.
For the time of year and given all the recent rain the course was in generally good condition. Greens were sporadic and some winter tees in use.The Course
