The Golf Show 2007 NEC Birmingham takes place this week from Friday 16th November until Sunday 18th November.

It will be interesting to see how this event is run and received by golfers from all around the Midlands, with this being the first Golf Show NEC Birmingham organised by the company who have run the successful London golf show for the past 5 years.

Did you attend the previous golf show at the NEC last year, what were your thoughts? Will you be attending this year? **

American golf is this years official retail partner, having attended the London show for the first time, so should see a wide range of golf equipment and products on offer for golfers wanting the latest equipment or a golfing bargain.

It's also good to see that the range of manufactures has grown this year for retail and also the likes of Cleveland and PING attending and allowing visitors to test the latest equipment on the range along with professional custom-fit experience.

The design also seems good this year based around a specially constructed indoor driving range and the American golf retail shop bringing a mix of all things golf; travel, gadgets, fashion, tuition, visitor interaction and the usual celebrity appearances and competitions.

Visitors to the show will have the chance to go head-to-head with celebrities; the opportunity to sink a 100ft putt; test out the latest golf equipment,; rip it up on the range; enter competitions for nearest the pin and longest drives; see the latest golfing gadgets; and more. It's also great to see an area dedicated to junior golf with free coaching, fun and games and prizes.

Further information and tickets are available online via http://www.golfshownec.com

Hopefully see some of you there and check back later this week for news direct from the Golf Show.

** Update : This is the second year for a golf show at the NEC. For clarification last year's event was run by the UK Golf Show which decided to fold the event earlier this year. This year's event is run by the Golf Show Co. who organise the London Golf Show and are in no way connected to the UK Golf Show.

I heard last year's show was really disappointing. Anyone go last year? Interested to know what you thought and is it worth going along?

It was absolutly rubbish - just stall after stall after stall of buying holiday homes abroad.  The highlight was the driving range which if you didnt get there at the crack of dawn was booked up for most of the day!

Did meet Alec Stewert and got a few free golf tees.  I went to try and buy my first set of decent irons but I couldnt even swing a bloody club - we were there an hour, left with everybody moaning around us, drove to American Golf, bought my clubs, and went to the driving range.  No chance of going this year!

To sum up 'I've had better days out at American Golf!'

Will be interesting, last year there was some negative feedback ut this year it's being run by the same team who run the London Golf show so hopefully it should be different.

Good to see they also have a real retailer in American Golf so there should be some goods to buy this time.
