I'm in love .......

Since my first outing of the year 2 weeks ago at the Belfry I have managed to sneak another game in shooting 101 on a new course so not quite the down turn I predicted .

I am now also officially in love <3   .........  

I was lucky enough to play Conwy Caernarvonshire Golf Club in North Wales last weekend, my first experience of a links course and what an experience it was.

Lucky for us the day was Sunny and with only a slight wind so must enjoyable.

The first 12 holes are link holes closely hugging the sea front but some how with the mild wild I managed to shoot 19 points despite picking up on the 3rd hole. With a narrow fairway, my slice and a public footpath running along the right hand side close to the beach, it forced me to well and truly pull my drive to some where never to be found.  Once again high handicap bad course management and I should have take a provisional.

The final few holes are away from the shore line and for us we had little or no wind but despite this in true Darren fashion of good 9 bad 9, I only managed a poor 12 points on the way back in. 

Once again bad course management saw me playing the par 5 9th hole but using the 3rd green as my target some how I still managed a 6!  The fairway wide bunker protecting the green, which I was warned about, never came into play for me given me off route plans.

It was a most enjoyable day and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone to try a links course and I can't wait to get back and play another links course.

I am now looking forward to this weekend's golf by participating in the 1st event in the Gtour series at Staverton Park in Northants whilst dreaming of links  ......... x
