Notts Golf Club falls victim to motorbike vandals once again

By: Golfshake Editor | Tue 08 Mar 2016

Just two months after motorbikes casued significant damage to Notts Golf Club (Hollinwell) in Nottinghamshire, it has been reported on the BBC that the callous situation was sadly repeated at the weekend as the mindless vandals struck once again.

Following an incident in January that saw the 12th green scarred with tire tracks, further damage was incurred on the 10th fairway and the adjacent bunkers.

"We could be looking at beyond £10,000 for what was two minutes of pleasure for some individuals," said Martyn Bonner, the managing secretary of the club.

"They should have a bit of respect for people's property. A great deal of money has been invested into this golf club. It's just mindless."

Insensitive behaviour that has likely set the course - ranked among the top 100 in England - back a few months in its preparations for the new season. With increased police patrols in the area, no arrests have been made at present, but it has to be hoped that such an incident won't be repeated at Hollinwell or anywhere else.
