Nedbank Challenge Preview, Picks & Analysis

By: Golf Shake | Mon 30 Nov 2015

It was at Sun City 12 months ago where Danny Willett finally announced himself on the world stage by winning the Nedbank Challenge, and he will return there desperate to pick up where he left off.

Sun City also represents an opportunity to win a bucketful of Ryder Cup points, and that can only provide extra motivation for Willett, who finished second in the Race to Dubai and showed some impressive form during the Final Series.

Russell Knox makes his first appearance as a member of the European Tour - and the Scot has now declared that making Darren Clarke's team is his target for 2016. With a win and a runner-up finish in his past two outings, Knox will take some beating.

The Ryder Cup is also a target for Bernd Weisberger, who is seeking to become the first Austrian to represent Europe. Nobody performed more consistently in 2015 than the impressive Weisberger, but he needs to find a way to convert more of his good weeks into victories.

Of course, the usual South African suspects will surely contend - and that means Branden Grace, Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen. After a shocking run at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, where he missed the cut, Oosthuizen spent the weekend working on his swing. He is long overdue another victory, and this could be his week.

Ross Fisher is another who has rediscovered his best form of late. He is a beautiful ball striker who hits the ball a country mile - if he has a good week with short stick he will always be difficult to beat.
