Could You Be The Next Happy Gilmore?

By: Golf Shake | Tue 21 Apr 2015

American Golf and Garmin are on the hunt for the country’s Longest Drivers.  If you can hit any type of ball hard, fast and long, then head to any of its 104 stores across the UK over the May bank holiday weekend (23rd -26th May) to register your entry.

As well as great prizes from Garmin, the overall winner will be sent on an all expenses paid trip to America in 2016 to take part in the famous RE/MAX World Long Drive Championships.

American Golf Long Drive

“People who are successful on the Long Drive scene aren’t necessarily from golfing backgrounds, which is why we are encouraging as many people as possible to come in store and have a go,” explains Daniel Gathercole, Head of Marketing at American Golf.  “We’re looking for new talent from surprising places!”

You will get three attempts to hit the ball as far as possible.  There will be products in store to borrow, or – just as long as it conforms to current regulations - bring your own club.  There are three categories:  Open (<45), Senior (45+) and Ladies.  There will be a vivoactive™ prize, courtesy of competition sponsor Garmin, for the winner at each store, but only the best three regional drivers in each category will be invited to the Grand Final this autumn.

The competition will really hot up once the finalists tee up to battle it out at the Grand Final where the prize is an all expenses trip, courtesy of American Golf and Garmin, to take part in a RE/MAX World Long Drive qualifying event in 2016.
As well as the consumer competition, American Golf is also offering journalists the chance to participate in a separate event.

So, if you fancy your chances, just head to your local store over the May bank holiday and give it your best shot!
