Casey Claims KLM Open

By: Golf Shake | Mon 15 Sep 2014

Following his sensational course-record equaling 62 on Saturday Paul Casey followed up with a four under final round of 66 to secure his first win this season at the KLM Open in the Netherlands.

Casey started the final day four shots adrift of over night leader Romain Wattel but with four birdies on the front nine the deficit was quickly erased.  Wattel could only manage a final 74 and Casey continued his run of form which saw only 1 bogey on the par 3 15th.   This week capped off a special fortnight for the 37 year old who became a father.

''First tournament as a dad and first win as a dad,'' Casey said following his victory at the Kennemer Golf & Country Club.

Simon Dyson was aiming for his 4th KLM Open title but despite a birdie on the 18th to move within 1 shot, Paul Casey finished with steady pars on 17 and 18 to secure his 13th European Tour title and first since the 2013 Irish Open.

This week also saw the run of hole-in-ones continue on tour following the 2 last week at the Omega European Masters which saw Graeme Storm walk away with a £100k super car.  Andy Sullivan, who finished 3rd, will have to settle for a trip to space for this effort on the par 3 15th!
