By: Golf Shake | Wed 26 Feb 2014

Sir Nick Faldo has announced that the Faldo Series will return to Poland and bring opportunity to the country’s young golfers for the first time since 2009. The Faldo Series Poland Championship will be held at Gradi Golf Club in Brzezno for the next three years, starting on August 15-17, 2014.

“I am delighted that young Polish golfers will once again benefit from the experience of playing in the Faldo Series,” said Faldo. “I thank Gradi Golf Club for making our return possible and the Polish Golf Union for their support. We look forward to establishing and growing the event in Poland over the next three years.”

“We are delighted to be bringing the Faldo Series back to Poland,” commented Martin Mos, Director of Gradi Golf Club. “Sir Nick Faldo provides wonderful opportunities for young golfers through the Series and we are very proud to be hosting an event in Poland. Everyone at Gradi Golf Club looks forward to welcoming the players and guests in August.”

“It is great to see the prestigious Faldo Series return to Poland,” added Marek Michalowski, President of the Polish Golf Union. “The tournament at Gradi Golf Club will complement our National Program of Junior Development, a project which is supported by the R&A and realized by the Polish Golf Union with cooperation from golf courses and the PGA of Poland.”

Supported by The R&A, ISPS Handa and The European Tour, talented young golfers aged 12 to 21 will compete over 54 holes for the second Poland Championship at Gradi Golf Club in Brzezno on August 15-17.

The field, which will also receive expert advice from guest speakers during the week, will be divided into five age-groups.  The winner of each division – three boys and two girls – will join Faldo at the season-ending 18th Faldo Series Grand Final.

In a bid to create access to golf for a young audience, a programme of grass-roots activities will also be introduced during the tournament for children from the local community.

Five Faldo Series tournaments across England, Scotland and Wales have already been announced for 2014 and dates are set to be confirmed for events in Ireland, Abu Dhabi, Chile, the Czech Republic, Austria, Brazil, Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia and Greece.

Established in 1996, 40 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 30 countries worldwide with more than 7,000 golfers participating each year.  Past winners include Major Champions Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng.

In September 2014, Faldo will begin taking students at a full-time residential academy for education and golf development in America.  The first ever Faldo Series Academy in Casa Grande, Arizona marks another significant step in the programme’s history.

Golfers born in 1993 or later wishing to enter or receive more information about the Faldo Series Poland Championship at Gradi Golf Club on August 15-17 should email [email protected].
