Last Chance to Enter the Faldo Series at Moortown or Pyle and Kenfig

By: Golf Shake | Sun 23 Feb 2014

faldo extends dealineThe Faldo Series has extended the deadline for entry into its first two UK Championships at Moortown (April 7-9) and Pyle & Kenfig (April 21-23) by one week, giving talented young golfers until Friday 28 February to be part of Sir Nick Faldo’s global golf development programme in 2014.

Interest has been high since the Faldo Series UK schedule was announced for 2014, including a new format that will see each tournament increased to 54-holes and count towards the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Supported by The R&A, ISPS and the European Tour, the UK schedule for 2014 features five tournaments across England, Scotland and Wales.  The first two events – Moortown (April 7-9) and Pyle & Kenfig (April 21-23) – are open for entry until Friday 28 February. The later three events – Old Fold Manor (June 16-18) near London, Panmure (June 24-26) in Scotland and Hollinwell in Nottinghamshire (August 18-20) – are open for entry until May 9.

Amateur golfers born in 1993 or later can enter any one of the five Faldo Series UK Championships online at www.nickfaldo.com/tournament-information.  The entry fee for 2014 is 45 pounds per person, which includes a practice round and three tournament rounds at the competitor’s chosen championship venue.

Entry also includes the chance to qualify for the 18th Faldo Series Europe Grand Final – a 54-hole event hosted by six-time Major winner Faldo at the end of the season.  Five age-category winners at each UK Championship – three boys and two girls – go through to the World Amateur Golf Ranking event, with all local expenses covered.

Established in 1996, 40 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 30 countries worldwide with more than 7,000 golfers participating each year.  Past winners include Major Champions Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng.
In September 2014, Faldo will begin taking students at a full-time residential academy for education and golf development in America.  The first ever Faldo Series Academy in Casa Grande, Arizona marks another significant step in the programme’s history.
