Most Annoying Golf Partners To Play With

By: Golf Shake | Wed 26 Jun 2013

annoying golfer We’ve all been there: you’re planning a golfing weekend with your regular partners and someone asks if their friend can come along. You’re never going to refuse them, are you? But when politeness meets ignorance, you end up with a stranger who really knows how to get on your nerves.

Golfplan Insurance has carefully selected some of the stereotypical golf partners you have most likely encountered. If you haven’t yet, then unfortunately ‘that guy’ could be you...

1. The Mobile Phone Guy

When you play with a person like this, they mistake the golf course as their work office or home. Don’t be surprised if you hear “Play on, I won’t be a minute”

2. Mr Indecisive

This person will carefully analyse every hole to each blade of grass, often turning a quick 9 into a marathon. They check wind speed, the condition of the fairway and the exact distant to the green twice before even considering what club they might use. A question you could be faced with “What do you think? A soft 7 or hard 8?”

3. The Exploder

You might not realise you are playing with a partner like this until they hit a bad shot. A cheery mood might be ruined by any small mishap on the course which leads to a shower of bad language and even a club ending up in the lake. Favourite phrase “[content too graphic for reader]”

4. All the Gear, No Idea

Often wearing a completely colour coordinated outfit, matching top brands of course, they can appear as a half decent player; the first swing suggests otherwise. A typical conversation starter might be “My wedge actually is the same one as Rory McIlroy uses”

Remind you of anyone? Thought so.

Don’t let anything else ruin your day and make sure you have the specialist golf insurance that protects you and your golfing investment.
