2013 Southern Matchplay Championship - Race to Prince's

The 2013 Southern Matchplay Golf Championship - The Race to Prince's - is a new season-long knockout competition open to amateur club golfers across the South of England.

Players take part in either Individual & Betterball competitions with a maximum of just five matches against local opponents providing the opportunity to reach their regional semi-final at either Royal North Devon or The Addington.

The first round takes place on a 'home & away' basis ensuring everybody gets to play one game at a different course. Entry is just £15 per person for the singles competition and £25 per pair for the betterball event with entries limited to the first 128 players/pairs that apply in each region. The winners at each regional semi-final will progress to the grand final, played over 36 holes and two days, at the stunning Prince's Golf Club between Monday 21st & Tuesday 22nd October 2013. Competing for the overall Champions titles the finalists can be sure for fitting end with the final staged over the magnificent Shore & Dunes course at Prince's, one of only 14 clubs to host The Open Championship.

The 12 golfers travelling to Prince's will take part in the 'expenses-paid' final where play will consist of semi-finals on the first day with the finals (and 3rd place play-offs) on the second day. Finalists will also enjoy a three course Table D’hote meal served in The Brasserie on the Bay restaurant, accommodation in the luxury on-site apartments and breakfast the following morning.
