Oceanic gets set for the 15th IGTM event

By: | Mon 29 Oct 2012

Oceanico Golf : Press Release

Oceânico Golf is set to welcome new and existing tour operators from around the world to stand 180 during the 15th International Golf Travel Market (IGTM).  Running from 12-15 November, the IGTM will attract over 600 golf tourism suppliers, 350 buyers and 100 media from across Europe, Asia, America, Ireland, Tunisia and Brazil.

Owners and operators of seven magnificent properties, Oceânico Golf has built a reputation for quality and accessible golf in the Algarve region.  Host to the Portugal Masters since 2007, the Oceânico Victoria course, will feature within the IGTM programme via a tournament which allows delegates to experience the region’s outstanding golf offering.

Chris Stilwell, CEO for Oceânico Golf said; “The IGTM is a significant opportunity to build upon our existing relationships with Tour Operator partners whilst also establishing new ones.  It is a great platform for us to demonstrate the strength and depth of the Oceânico portfolio. As a host venue for the IGTM golf tournament we are pleased to welcome delegates to the region and showcase the infrastructure and accessibility we have become renowned for.”

The world’s premier golf travel event will take place at the congress centres of the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura bringing together buyers and exhibitors for four days of pre-scheduled appointments, networking and industry updates.  The event sets up the ideal opportunity to meet first-hand with Oceânico Golf representatives for a unique opportunity to discuss the portfolio of properties in the region.

Also Vice President of the Algarve Tourism Board, Mr Stilwell added “The Algarve is one of the top European golf destinations and one of the best in the world, and many of our 32 courses are recognised and awarded for their excellence.  Approximately half of all Portugal’s golf courses are in the Algarve, with 15% of tourism revenue in the region derived from golf, so it is an important sector of our economy.”

Peter Grimster, IGTM Exhibition Manager, said: “This year’s IGTM looks set to break all records.  We are on course for the largest ever attendance, and the ratio of buyers to sellers is set ideally for destinations to optimise business with golf tour operators during the four days.”
