Wet Out on the Course

You start to wonder if this is some scene out of the movie 2012; mild winters, shorts in March, drought and floods in April.

First we're told that we've had one of the mildest Winters for some time, which meant some golf courses were lacking water at the start of the season and preparation work taking longer to bed in.  We then get to April with some regions in the UK having hose pipe bans imposed before recording the wettest April ever.   So for all us golfers it's all rather bizarre especially with the end of April wash out!

For most, excluding Scotland, the weekend saw another onsalught of rain with very little golf being played and you can see why looking at the images below which includes Five Lakes (renamed Six Lakes with the Swan Bunker hazard!), tough island greens at Thorney Golf Course and some tricky 'to get to' tee boxes.

It was good to see the team at Goodwood Golf Club still out yesterday hard at work ensuring the golf course is in tip top condition on a course described as 'the most permeable golf course EVER'  with a rating of 4.41 out of 5 on Golfshake you can see why!

For most the rain was much needed and checking out a few courses earlier today they were all looking very good indeed!  Now let's hope the rain goes away so we can get on with playing golf ;)
