Midlands Golf Week bonanza at The Belfry
The Belfry is getting behind this month's Midlands Golf Week with a series of tour pro clinics, exclusive demo days & top prizes on offer for all golfers.
The Belfry, venue for four previous Ryder Cup matches, is getting behind this month’s Midlands Golf Week (9-15 April) by offering an unprecedented number of free clinics, lessons, competitions and fun demonstrations to suit players of all ages and abilities across the seven days.
Headlining the week will be European Tour professional Sam Walker, who will lead a series of clinics in the Wishaw resort’s famous PGA National Academy from 11am on Tuesday 10 April. Sam will also host a longest drive contest – the winner earning an individual lesson with him at a later date. Fellow Belfry-based European Tour professional Tom Whitehouse will also take time out from tournament play to offer instruction sessions, a Q&A and a nearest-the-pin contest from 9am on the Tuesday.
The PGA National Golf Academy, one of Europe’s best-equipped teaching facilities, will be open for visitors to enjoy free tuition sessions with 20 PGA Professionals from 09:00 each day. Every visitor to the Academy will also receive free membership worth £50 that entitles them to a discount on range balls used there for the rest of the year.
Keen amateur players will also be able to try out the clubs currently being used to good effect by 14-time Major winner Tiger Woods when Nike hosts its own custom-fit and Demo Day on Tuesday 10 April. Other leading brands Titleist, Wilson Staff, Cobra and Mizuno have announced their support for Midlands Golf Week at The Belfry by confirming custom-fit and Demo Day teams for Saturday 14 April.
“In the spirit of Midlands Golf Week, The Belfry is looking to help more people take up the game or improve their current standard in a relaxed and cost-effective way,” said Director of Golf Gary Silcock. “Our facilities and staff are ideally suited to give everyone interested in golf a great experience. The Belfry has a special relationship with nine golf brands and thanks to their support we’ve been able to host a number of similar free Open Days in the past that have helped hundreds of people take up golf.”
A number of prizes will also be on offer throughout the week for a range of fun competitions at the Academy’s putting green. One lucky golfer will be able to write his or her name in history by holing the longest putt ever recorded at The Belfry and claim a 2-ball round on the famous Brabazon course worth more than £300.
In addition to supporting Midlands Golf Week with one of the biggest offerings in the region, The Belfry is also taking a stand at the National Golf Show at the NEC a week later (20-22 April).
