Rock Rolls to Victory with Titleist in Abu Dhabi
Posted by: Darren Ramowski on Tue 31 Jan 2012
Titleist Press Release
As the heat soared in the Abu Dhabi desert, Pro V1x loyalist Robert Rock kept his cool to claim his second career European Tour title at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. Rock fired a final round 2-under par 70 to claim victory by one shot over one of the strongest fields ever to assemble on the European Tour. In an all-Titleist golf ball top two, Rock edged Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy (Pro V1x), who closed with a 3-under par 69 to finish alone in second, one shot behind Rock.
Rock posted a 13-under par total at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, claiming the biggest win of his career and adding to his maiden European Tour victory at the 2011 Italian Open. Joining Rock and McIlroy towards the top of the leaderboard were Titleist Brand Ambassadors George Coetzee (Pro V1x) and Matteo Manassero (Pro V1x), who put their trust in Titleist from tee-to-green to tie for sixth place on 10-under par. As well as being the choice of the champion in the Middle East, Titleist was also the choice of the majority of the field with 73 players putting their trust in the #1 Ball in Golf, compared to 20 for the nearest competitor.
Rock’s victory vaults him to second in the Race2Dubai rankings and 55th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He topped a field that included the world’s top 3 golfers, all of whom put their trust in the unrivalled performance of the legendary Pro V1 franchise; World #1 Luke Donald (Pro V1x), World #2 Rory McIlroy (Pro V1x) and World #3 Lee Westwood (Pro V1x).
The victory marks the seventh worldwide professional victory for Titleist golf balls in 2012, as Robert Rock joins Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker and Pro V1x loyalists Johnson Wagner and Mark Wilson, who have all claimed victory on the PGA Tour this year.
A second career European Tour title for Titleist golf ball loyalist Robert Rock, marking the seventh worldwide victory for Titleist golf ball loyalists in 2012, continues to prove that the world’s best players continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
