Faldo Announces Dates for Sixth Series Final in China
The sixth Faldo Series Asia Grand Final will take place on March 14-16, 2012, Sir Nick Faldo announced today. The six-time Major Champion will again host the tournament at Mission Hills Golf Club in China.
“The recent success of past winners Yani Tseng and Rory McIlroy will give this year’s Asian finalists added belief and inspiration,” said Faldo. “I always look forward to returning to Mission Hills. It is this kind of support, together with The R&A, ISPS and UFL, which enables us to provide opportunity to the finalists and to thousands of young Asians each year.”
“Mission Hills is proud to be the Home of the Faldo Series Asia and to have been part of its significant growth since its inception in 2006,” commented Tenniel Chu, Vice Chairman of Mission Hills. “We share Sir Nick’s vision of giving back and supporting the growth of the game in Asia and once again we look forward to welcoming the region’s top young golfers to Mission Hills.”
Following a record season of 17 tournaments in 13 Asian countries, more than 80 boys and girls aged 12 to 21 will qualify for the 54-hole Grand Final on the Faldo Course at Mission Hills in Shenzhen.
Also exempt for the World Amateur Golf Ranking event will be five age-group champions from the recent Europe Grand Final at Lough Erne Resort in Northern Ireland, hosted by Faldo and attended by McIlroy.
With further support from the Asian Tour, the Asia Pacific Golf Federation (APGC), TaylorMade and Tricor, the five Asian champions from Mission Hills – three boys and two girls – will be exempt for the sixteenth Europe Grand Final in September 2012. The overall boy and girl champion will receive a start in a professional Tour event.
