Is Rory the New Tiger ?
Posted by: Darren Ramowski on Tue 15 Nov 2011
Guest post from Tom May af Golfing in Style.
Once a sport seen as being played largely by the older generation, golf has in recent years inspired a whole new generation of followers, wanting to follow the lead of Tiger Woods and now Rory McIlroy. More and more young men are taking up the game, heading out across the country to their local courses and driving ranges. They don’t just do this in traditional golf clothing, they do this wanting to look fashionable. Rory and many others on tour are shaking up golf’s older image and proving that you can play well while being fashion conscious.
What this new golfing generation inspired by Rory have been crying out for are clothes that are cutting edge from brands they know and that that can wear on the course but also wear off it. Enter Golfing in Style. A brand new website, it is aimed at the younger golfer that cuts down the need to have two completely separate wardrobes, therefore cutting down some of the expense that taking up the game undoubtedly has.
With a mix of golfing and fashion brands such as adidas, Baracuta, Boxfresh, Le Breve, Merc, Stromberg and UKKO. Golfing in Style really is trying to cover all bases. Established golfing names such as adidas and Stromberg go hand in hand with fashioned focused brands such as UKKO and Boxfresh. This new website in itself has been inspired by the “Rory factor” catering for this new generation of golfer who are more style conscious like the tour players they see on a weekly basis. With the items sold on this new website you can look just as at home relaxing in the pub on a Saturday night as you do strolling down the 18th fairway at your local club.
More names are planned for the new season which carries on this new websites ethos to golf and fashion. Names including Farah Vintage and LUKE which are heavy weights in UK menswear are joined by Tommy Hilfiger Golf with their much celebrated and world renowned style.
With the thousands of young golfers taking to the driving ranges and undoubtedly feeling the highs and many lows of amateur golfers everywhere, it is fair to say that the Rory factor is working and making golf more popular than it has ever been even in these uncertain economic times.
