This Week in Golf

By: Adam Smith | Tue 08 Nov 2011

This past week or so has been interesting in the world of golf, let’s have a look at what’s been going on.

Oh Stevie!

Yes the caddie that loves the limelight more than any other is back in the news again. New Zealand’s most famous sportsman (if you can call him that) Stevie Williams made a ‘funny’ yet racist remark (I’d never put those two words together) at the caddie of the year awards in China. He called his former employer a certain Tiger Woods (remember him?) a B@*#k A%=£H/!e.

Apparently it’s all fine now, Tiger was hurt by the comments but they chatted this morning out in Australia, Stevie apologised, Tiger said he wasn’t a racist but he shouldn’t have said it and they’re moving on.

Sounds like a soap opera!

Poor Terry

At the same award ceremony Ian Poulter’s caddie Terry Mundy won the worst dressed caddie as he has to wear his bosses clothing line IJP! Lee Westwood found this amusing and tweeted:

“Worst dressed caddie..Terry Mundy! Because he wears his boss (poulters) clothing line! Brilliant!” Even put a picture up. (right)

At home with the WozzleRroy’s

Graeme McDowell has been getting cosy with his best buddy and new World Number two Rory McIlory and his new girlfriend Tennis World Number one Caroline Wozniaki.

He Tweeted: “Thanks for dinner @McIlroy and @CaroWozniacki. For the record Wozza makes a killer homemade ice cream!!”

Thanks for the information Graeme!

Poulter’s Race Against Time

Because he had nothing better to do, big tweeter Ian Poulter was giving us a run down on his route home from Shanghai to Orlando.

He rushed off the course after his tied 13th finish at the WGC – HSBC Champions and went straight to the airport and home via Chicago. For all those that are interested......he made it!

Too Early for Tseng

(Skysports.com)

Women's world number one Yani Tseng is to turn down the opportunity to play at next year's Puerto Rico Open.

The 22-year-old from Taiwan had been offered an invite to compete in the PGA Tour event which will take place at the Trump International Golf Club, Rio Grande in 2011.

Tseng herself had acknowledged she would like the chance to test herself against male players in a tournament at some stage in her career, but her camp insist it is still too early for such a step.

"We thank Sidney (Wolf, the tournament's general chairman), Chi Chi Rodriguez (the tournament's ambassador) and Puerto Rico for their interest, but it is too early in her career," stated Tseng's adviser Ernie Huang.
