2011 Golfshake Open

By: Adam Smith | Mon 31 Oct 2011

The 2011 Golfshake Open was contested last Friday (28th October) at De Vere Staverton Park, with the course in fantastic condition the much anticipated event was as always well contested.

The weather was also kind to the 32 competitors who received a special invite or played through last year’s qualification as the sun shone throughout the day meaning good scores were expected.

The player’s certainly didn’t let the event down as two players came in with 40 points to tie at the top. Eventually it was Bob Smith (18) who claimed victory on a back-nine count-back over Golfshake stalwart Dave Ley (11).

The good scoring continued as Brian Willerton (5) and Adrian Fallon (13) tied for third place on 37 points followed by three players on 36, Martin Mallett (17), Mike Crowe (9) and Joe Moore (13).

Pete Salsbury (19) and Jane Baillie (15) both finished on 35 points just in front of Nick Beric (13) who completed the top-ten with 34 points.

Dave Ley took the long drive award, with Nick Beric winning the nearest the pin.

Full leaderboard can be found here.

Main Sponsors De Vere and Srixon were on hand to supply some great prizes for the lucky winners as Smith not only took home the trophy but a golfing break for two at any De Vere venue.

Bags, hats and balls were supplied by Srixon as their continued support is always well appreciated by organisers and players alone.

2012

Next year Golfshake is delighted to announce the return on the Golfshake Order of Merit in conjunction with qualification for the 2012 Golfshake Open at a venue yet to be decided.

The much anticipated return of the Order of Merit will see more events throughout the year, so keep an eye out for announcements.
