Round-up of the weekend
Peter Hanson came through an up and down day to win The Czech Open in a play-off.
The Swede who had been in control of the tournament all week, stuttered on the final day starting with 3 bogeys in the first four holes and needed to get up and down on the last for par to get into the play-off with Peter Lawrie and Gary Boyd.
After all players holed out for par on the first play-off hole it was Hanson who rolled in his 18ft birdie putt to clinch the title.
The win also takes him into an automatic qualifying spot for the Ryder Cup with one week of qualifying remaining.
On the US Tour Arjun Atwal became the first Indian to win on the PGATour by claiming the Wyndham Championship by one shot from David Toms.
Atwal who only qualified for the event on the Monday saw his three shot overnight lead go early on but then rallied well and relied heavily on his putting on the back nine.
Birdies on the 14th and 16th saw him reclaim his lead and go to 20 under. And two finishing pars were enough to make the title his.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for Atwal however, twice on the back-nine he got a free drop after hitting into a spectator stand next to the green, once at 15 and then he fired into the crowd intentionally on the last hole as he knew he would get a free drop. An up and down from there clinched the title and a two-year tour exemption.
Fred Funk won the fourth of the Champions Tours five majors with a win at the JELD-WEN Tradition.
It is the second time in three years that Funk has triumphed at the event.
It was a very tight final day with eight players with or tied for the lead at some point. Funk had seven pars on a trot before rolling in a birdie putt on the 16th to put him in the lead on his own.
The overnight leader Tom Lehman fell back with a +1 over par 73 along with Bernhard Langer who was trying to win his third major in a row.
Funk who claimed his third Champions Tour major, had to endure a thrilling finish a Chien Soon Lu nearly holed a 40ft chip to tie Funk on the last.
