Thomas Ramsay talk Tiger
When Tiger Woods missed the 2008 Ryder Cup through injury, Team USA would have given anything to have their star man on the team. However, just two years on, the once mighty Tiger has lost his way and has allowed the unthinkable to happen; he needs a wildcard pick to play in the 2010 Ryder Cup.
After failing to achieve the required top 7 finish at Whistling Straits to stand a chance of forcing his way into the eight who qualify automatically, Woods is now hoping that his improved performance at the US PGA Championship will convince Team US captain Corey Pavin that he is getting back to the kind of form that has seen him dominate the golfing world for the majority of the decade.
Having taken a break earlier in the year to attempt to sort out the problems that have plagued his personal life, Woods initially seemed to come back in good form, but has since been plagued by some of the worst results of his career.
In spite of his form, Ryder Cup Betting reports had suggested that Woods was a ‘certainty’ to make the team, something that captain Corey Pavin has since moved to reject as false.
Woods himself has admitted he is unsure as to whether he will be picked, but has indicated he would be willing to accept the ignominy of a wild card for the chance to help the US team.
With time running out for Pavin to make his decision, the Ryder Cup Odds are currently in favour of Tiger being given a chance to help Team USA defend the cup that they regained from Europe in 2008 and, if Tiger finds his form of old, the chances of a European victory may well rapidly diminish.
