Under Armour secures another Tour win for Fisher
Ross Fisher fired an impressive final round 65 to win the 3 Irish Open in Killarney on Sunday.
The 29-year-old held off a strong challenge from local favourite Padraig Harrington to secure the title with a record-equaling total of 266, 18 under par, matching the tournament record set by Colin Montgomerie nine years ago.
Fisher managed to stay comfortable, calm and composed in the heat of the moment with the help of his Under Armour performance apparel, which included the technologically advanced UA ColdGear Mock he wore while shooting a new course record 61 on Friday.
“There’s no doubt my Under Armour clothing gave me the winning edge,” said Fisher. “As well as being incredibly comfortable to wear, my UA ColdGear Mock allows me to swing freely, and eliminates the elements, keeping me warm and dry and letting me focus on my game whilst on the course.”
Fisher’s victory secured him a cheque for €500,000 and moves him into sixth place in the standings to make the European Ryder Cup squad.
“It just feels great to come out on top against such a world-class field," Fisher added. "I could hear the roars and knew Padraig was making a charge. I just tried to stay patient and this is what we play for - we want to give ourselves a chance and I am no different."
