Round up of the weekend

By: Adam Smith | Mon 28 Jun 2010

US PGA Tour

Justin Rose failed to make it four wins in four weeks for Europeans on the USPGA Tour after he squandered a three shot overnight lead.

_43057329_rose300_300At the halfway stage at the Travellers Championship in Connecticut, Rose looking for his second win in a month after his maiden tour victory earlier in the month, lead by six shots after a brilliant 62 on Friday.

Over the weekend though he failed to add to his total and he fell back towards the pack.

Still, with a three shot lead going into the final day Rose was disappointed to shoot a five over 75: "It's hard to play golf when you feel like you're going to miss every putt from two feet," Rose said.

"I was just that uncomfortable on the greens all day. My golf game felt fair or thereabouts, but just felt really uncomfortable on the greens.

"Getting in the hole seemed impossible and that's just what I need to work on. My putting is hot and cold.

"It was obviously my tournament to lose. I could have shot one-over par and won. It's disappointing. It wasn't overly difficult."

American Bubba Watson held his nerve on the second extra play-off hole to claim his maiden tour victory.

European Tour

David Horsey gave England fans something to shout about in Germany as he claimed the biggest win of his career at the BMW International Open in Munich.

Horsey was joint 5th overnight but shot a -5, 67 in the final round to end one shot ahead of Ross Fisher.
Welshman Bradley Dredge, who led the way over the previous three days, fell away after a double bogey on the 16th to finish in a tie for third.

Horsey’s win moves him into the top 100 in the world and he was just glad to in with a chance:  "I wasn't really in the mix until 16 and coming down the last I didn't know what was going on. I just wanted to concentrate on what I was doing.

"The last few weeks have been a bit of a struggle (he had missed three cuts in a row) and I just wanted to relax this week. This win is what I've been trying to get for over a year. I felt I was good enough coming out on Tour, but maybe I put a little bit too much pressure on myself."

LPGA Tour

Christie Kerr had two reasons to celebrate as she won her second major title which also moved her to number one in the world rankings.

Victory by an incredible 12 shots at the LPGA Championship in New York can be added to the US Open she won back in 2007.

Finishing on -19, Kerr had led from day one after rounds of 68, 66 and 69 and a final round of 66 gave Kerr a convincing victory.
