Callaway Launches New EPIC SPEED Drivers & Fairway Woods

By: Golfshake Editor | Fri 15 Jan 2021

Callaway believes that it has reached new heights through the new EPIC SPEED Drivers & Fairway Woods, which have been carefully engineered, bringing together several key features into one impressive package to ensure that every golfer can enjoy some distance benefits on the course.

How is this made possible? Well, it's through a simple but effective formula, A.I. + Jailbreak + New Speed Frame. What that adds up to - according to Callaway - is a result that will offer a profound shift in the industry with regards to manufacturing and performance standards.

EPIC SPEED Driver

Epic Speed Driver

The EPIC SPEED features the new A.I. designed Jailbreak Speed Frame, which has been introduced to enhance horizontal and torsional stability, something that helps to promote increased ball speeds across the face.

The Flash Face (also A.I. designed) has been specifically created to take full advantage of the Speed Frame, encouraging faster speeds across a more expansive area. The strong titanium promotes maximum speed, forgiveness and spin robustness.

Additionally, the aerodynamic head construction allows for lower drag and therefore higher head speed. The taller ribbon and flatter crown are engineered for a precise shape that can support golfers to generate more speed from their swing.

Finally, the Triaxial carbon covers a larger portion of the crown and toe, leading to weight savings of over 16 grams. Callaway engineers have redistributed that saved weight to enhance forgiveness.

EPIC MAX Driver

Epic Max Driver

The EPIC MAX boasts the above features, but delivers higher forgiveness, starting with a lighter, stronger Triaxial Carbon material that saves over 19 grams of weight vs. titanium. This redistribution promotes a high launch and enhanced forgiveness. The driver also delivers a combination of a deep CG, draw bias and higher MOI to promote a tighter downrange dispersion that leads to straighter drives.

Showcasing greater control, through a 17g sliding rear weight, golfers have adjustability over the ball flight that they want to play. Combined with the OptiFit hosel, the MAX provides up to 20 yards of shot shape correction.

EPIC MAX LS Driver

Max LS Driver

Ideal for those lower handicap golfers who want more speed, neutral ball flight and forgiveness in a lower spin, high MOI driver, the MAX LS should be an attractive option for many players.

Benefiting from the same A.I. Jailbreak Speed Frame as its sibling models, the MAX LS has saved weight (13g) to improve forgiveness when compared to past MAVRIK designs. This driver has been created to offer a fusion of deep CG and higher MOI to promote a tighter downrange dispersion.

Each of the three drivers retail at £499 and will be released onto the market in February.

EPIC SPEED Fairway Wood

Epic Speed FW

Presenting new Jailbreak A.I. Velocity Blades, alongside stiffening the body, the design allows the forged face cup to flex more. The result is greater ball speeds all across the face.

Focusing even more emphasis on centre and off-centre ball speeds, C300 Maraging Steel provides outstanding strength and flexibility while the Face Cup provides speed and spin consistency across the face.

Additionally, the Centre of Gravity (CG) is combined with a new leading-edge to promote a strong ball flight, spin robustness and consistent shot shape dispersion.

EPIC MAX Fairway Wood

Epic Max FW

The EPIC MAX offers enhanced forgiveness, through the deployment of an oversized head that combines with a shallow face to make the wood extremely easy to launch. Adjustable, the launch and can be altered using 2 & 14g weights. Use the heavy weight in the rear for more forgiveness or use the heavy weight in the front for lower launch and spin.

The two fairway woods are priced at £299 and will become available at retail in February.
