Scottish Disability Golf Partnership

The SDGP will host its first PGA supervised golf training and tuition day of 2010, at the Mearns Castle Golf Academy on Saturday 10 April and anyone with a serious health issue, mobility problem or disability and their coaches may attend.

Anyone of any age with a disability or serious health issue and their coaches or carers, are invited to participate at the following PGA Tuition & Golf Open Day.  Non-golfers with a disability or serious health issue, are also encouraged to come and "Have A Go"!!

With funding from the Voluntary Action Fund's Community Chest the SDGP has arranged a free golf training day at the Mearnes Castle Golf Academy on Saturday 10 April.  The training will be provided by PGA qualified Professionals from 10:00 and for more established players some golf is also available at a heavily subsidised price.

Steve Bramwell, the SDGP Secretary and event organiser said, "This type of training day is a great opportunity for the Partnership to demonstrate to golfers and the general public that having a disability should not be a barrier to continuing to play or to try to take up the sport.  We have funding for around fifty and everyone is welcome to bring friends and carers with them and enjoy the day".

The Scottish Disability Golf Partnership is the only group in Scotland which actively encourages and involves anyone of any age, with a disability, serious health problem or mobility issue and their coaches, who wish to play golf and includes amputees, the blind, deaf, those with learning difficulties, downs syndrome, stroke and heart attack victims, wheelchair users and anyone with other similar issues, who wish to learn or play the sport.

The SDGP has evolved rapidly in recent years and provides golf training and competition for many hundreds of people and is this year targeting youngsters and junior members in an attempt to introduce them to the game.

We have encountered many new health conditions and mobility problems and want to encourage anyone to come and have a go as such problems should not stop anyone playing golf.
