Benross redefine the set of Irons

Posted by: Darren Ramowski on Mon 22 Mar 2010

Traditionally sets of irons comprised of 3-SW sets. But the game of golf has changed with the introduction of hybrids and high lofted wedges over the last 15 years. The idea of a traditional 3-SW set has now for many golfers become a distant memory. Many players buy sets and remove the SW to incorporate their specialist wedges or take out the long irons and replace them with hybrids. For 2010, in an industry first, Benross has the perfect solution.

Benross are promising to only give golfers clubs within their sets, which they actually use.  By focusing on the end user and which clubs their games get maximum benefit from, Benross have tailored two new sets of irons to benefit either the “Score Lower” or “Play Better” golfer.

The latest VX Proto irons are tailored for the “Score Lower” golfer who is capable of hitting consistent shots into greens but desires the added benefits of extra wedges to aid better scoring. The VX Proto irons have narrower soles, a mid-cavity back and head size and slightly less offset, all desirable benefits to allow the golfer to “Score Lower”. The set come with two free Zip It wedges (52o and 56o) meaning golfers don’t need to remove the SW from their set because Benross have done it for them and replaced it with two specialist scoring Zip It wedges.

Benross haven’t stopped there either. Recognizing the “Play Better” golfer, who will purchase the Innovator XXX irons, has the tendency to remove their long irons and replace them with Hybrid clubs, Benross have tailored a set especially for them; removing the 3 and 4 irons and including an easy to hit alternative, the 23o VX Proto Escape.  The Innovator XXX irons have wide soles, a deep cavity back and plenty of offset to enable golfers to hit regular consistent shots with the minimum of punishment for off centre hits. Replacing the 3 and 4 irons with an award winning VX Proto Escape, Benross believe the “Player Better” golfer can significantly reduce scores by hitting more greens, more often.

Benross CEO Jon Everitt commented, “We have focused on which clubs our customers actually use within their sets and have created two sets of irons to maximise the potential of any player, which ultimately means golfers only buy and carry within their set clubs they really use”.
