Results and Order of Merit - Gtour Final

The final event of the Gtour 2009 series and Order of Merit tour took place at De Vere Staverton Park on Saturday 7th November.  With 40 players taking part 3 people had a chance of taking the 2009 Champion and over 15 players still having a realistic chance of finishing in the top 10 spots.

It was a close fought final event with the last group deciding the final Order of Merit placings after Phil Eadsforth coming in with 3rd place for the individual event.

Playing in the 1st group David Casey had held the top 5 spot he needed to capture the title but Shane Davies in group 8 came in with the same points total and narrowly edged him out on count-back.  Matt Surgey having been the Order of Merit front runner for some time could only manage 27 points and up until the 10th and final group was in overall 3rd place.  Phil's strong finish and 3rd place in the individual event ensured Matt Surgey climbed back to 2nd with David Casey finishing in 6th spot and receiving less points ending with a 3rd in the Order of Merit.

The individual event was won by Steve Watson who finished 4th in the overall Order of Merit and 2nd spot went to Dan Walker attending his first Gtour event who also scored the lowest gross of the day with 74.

Steve Mclean took the Nearest the Pin, John Harris the Longest drive and the individual top spots were: 1. Steve Watson,38; 2. Dan Walker,35; 3. Phil Eadsforth,35; 4. Peter Law,34; 5.
