Darren,

What can one do with 'awards' which cannot be spent, sailed, or eaten? Just a simple "thank you" for supporting your site would be adequate. We ain't babies. Leastways not all the time. We don't need reward stickers.

P.S. It's a bit sick to award anyone the title of 'Loud Mouth,' irrespective of whether or not the cap fits. cryinghttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/cry_smile.gif" title="crying" width="20" />  Indeed I personally find it to be slightly offensive.

they are just a bit of fun and you can just ignore.  If anyone doesn't like any particular award, which is all automated, then they can be removed.

The concept is something called gamification and people will have seen similar awards on other internet sites like Foursquare plus with in popular console games like Tiger Woods on the Xbox.

The major difference with providing the awards here on Golfshake is that these can be tied in to real world experiences rather than just earning an award for posting on the forums or posting a review.  The awards on Golfshake can be used to incentivse your golf, like I have mentioned elsewhere I generally never go 2 rounds without a penalty so a target for me is to earn the Hazard Free award which is 5 rounds in a row with no penalties.

Hopefully most will find these fun and hopefully an additional incentive when playing golf.
