I can only say that would never buy a powakaddy again and maybe speak to malcolm Fell about his powakaddy "issues". Now use a motocaddy and is an excellent piece of kit. |

Gary, Your not alone. I know 3 people who had the axle snap on the new Freeway. Powakaddy have lost their way somewhat & as a result have lost their top spot in the electric trolley to Motocaddy. If only they had listened to the old "if it aint broke don't fix it"!! |

Take a look at the EZi caddy who appear to be new on the market but apparently used to own powercaddy and hillbilly. A playing partner of mine recently purchased one and is very impressed. I am going to look at them tomorrow at the head office in Canterbury Kent. Also there is also a new one made by golfstream which appears a bit on the pricey side for my liking |

If you kick off enough PK will replace the FWII with a sport free of charge. The product was useless. Axles snapped because copper bushes slid out of their mountings causing the axle to move freely in the chassis. Electrics were crap, gearing wrong, you name it!! |

Yep, I did exactly the same (but before it needed repairing)!
S3 is good but i was concerned when one of the wheels packed in after a month, quickly replaced though |

If you'd like to hear the full tale of my PW Freeway 2 issues then maybe you should PM me with your email address. It would take too long on the forum. 2 years ago decided to upgrade from a very old original freeway to the latest version. Considered the others but as a tried and tested make bought a new Freeway 2, what a mistake. Basics. It was replaced with a new trolley, by Powakaddy, after 6 months due to many problems. Faulty electronics, motor replaced and inevitably a broken axle. Also as has been mentioned the axle bushes do not stay in place. I did suggest to PK a permanent fix for this but they haven't as far as I'm aware done anything about it.Their solution to the bush problem is to supaglue them in place, not an engineering solution, just a bodge job however the axle breakages are not due to this as I decided to fix the bush problem with my solution and they never moved again. I did though have another 2 axle breakages. It's a problem with axle wind up caused by insufficient support mfor the drive train. The upgrade kit from the new Sport model consists of a new bracket, which fits between the motor and gearbox, this secures the whole drive assembly to the rear cross tube. Yes it does cost about £150.00 but I had it supplied and fitted FOC at a local agent very recently. My 2nd trolley has had a new gearbox, new motor and 3 new axles all in 18 months. Not a good recommendation. I do have to disagree with the comment about Powakaddy not wanting to know about the problems. I have nothing but excellent service - could just be the agent I deal with, though that doesn't detract from a poor quality product. I suspect the problem really exists with QC in China where the parts are made and just assembled in the UK. However Powakaddy have lost their renowned name and Motocaddy must be the way to go unless of course you fancy a Stewart. |

I recently bought a freeway II 2nd hand, its recently come back from PK equiped with many new (upgraded ) parts including, Gearbox, shaft, clutches, wheels, new style motor bracket, speed controller, battery & charger, upper bag support bracket and handle assembly, the dam thing like new. Problem is ive read so many bad reviews now , im a affraid to use in fear of it braking. My question is, has anybody had all the upgrades & do thy work? Is the trolley now useable & reliable? Any help you could give would be greatly apprecited. |

Gary, dont know if you have still got your PK Freeway 2 if so please continue to read below. Powakaddy FW2 not fit for purpose was my court ruling which is great news for all other PK owners. I did what PK told me to do and took my retailer / PK I had 3 new trolleys, 4 new screens, a new gear box and a broken axle in the time period I had the trolleys. I'm going to try both the Mottocaddy S3 and PK sport before going down the route of buying one. Posted: Today at 20:55 |

I purchased a new Freeway 11 in November 2010. On it's 3rd use the Gearbox crunched to a halt. This was replaced under warranty. From then I have found the Trolley hard work inconsistent speeds, Trolley has a mind of its own when to start when to stop. It is unstable on any undulating ground. On my last outing it suddenly stopped and the screen went a strange colour. On warranty examination this was found to be cracked and Powakaddy refuse to accept warranty repair stating I have caused the damage. ( £57+ VAT) never again will I recommend them or purchase their products. |

Just to update the above on collecting my Trolley from the repairers and attempting to use it the handle came away, reason? they had not bothered to replace all the screws. Have emailed Powakaddy again many times simply do not reply. Anyone want to purchase a cheap Powakaddy. |

Hi Dave, don't waste your time with Powakaddy, just take it back to your retailer and let them sort out all the problems for you. If not you need to contact Consumer Direct and mention to the retailer after reading all the posts + see Powakaddy review centre posts that you will pursue them for a full refund through the small claims court as the product is not fit for purpose. Check my blog above as I won in court. Good luck and keep in touch. Barrie. |

Barrie, Thanks for that and I may end up going down your path. Just to update having received yet again no reply from Powakaddy and needing my Trolley I contacted a company to supply a new screen. They have been so helpful and asked for a photo of the actual screen. On supplying it they stated in their view it was faulty and not owners abuse as there is no other damage to the Trolley. They are supplying a new screen and want the old one so they can approach Powakaddy for a refund for me. If not will be going for a full refund and expenses. |

Another update today new Screen arrived fitted did not work faulty I am just about ready to throw this on the tip no doubt next excuse will be I have attempted work myself, well they refused to repair. |
![]() Barrie TophamHandicap : Reply : Tue 31st Jul 2012 21:36 |
Dave, did you buy it from a private seller ? If so I would first of all check with consumer direct that you are still ok to go through small claims court with it being a private purchase. Consumer direct is free legal advice and they are so helpful unlike Powakaddy. mention there are loads of complaints about this model. I would then ring Powakaddy direct and speak to Rebecca and if you dont get any joy say your going to take it further through small claims court. Good luck. |

Hi Dave, I thought I would add my two penneth into the discussion. I had Freeway II bought for me as a present for christmas 2009 after previously having a freeway for 10 years was pretty confident i was up for another 10 years of no problem golf......NOT THE CASE. It was obvious from the first time I used it there was a problem with the speed controller, it was either to fast or to slow and on some occasions possessed and set its own agenda. I also noted that the paint had started to rub off around the bag support structure. After finally getting a contact I could deal with at P/K we agreed to have the trolley repaired, 1 speed controller and handle later there was absolutely no difference... actually thats not quite true the trolley still had a mind of its own but I could no longer see what setting it was on as the glass was permenantly misted.... Many many emails and trips to the approved repairer later P/K director decided to replace the trolley....The new trolley is worse.. the speed controller is uncontrolable, the screen is always misted, the hub snapped off the wheels, the bushes keep sliding out of place, the paint has rubbed off again and now to cap it all the axle has snapped in half, I have just dropped the trolley of again at the approved repairer and he has advised that it is 2 week out of warranty however a £250 upgrade will be fitted via P/K and I will only need to pay £45 for the labour... Apparently I will be getting new motor gearbox axle handle and controller.... watch this space!!! |

Phil, Sorry to hear you are yet another Powakaddy 11 owner. I have just fitted myself a new Screen Board. The Authorised supplier assured me my old one was faulty and they would approach Powakaddy to compensate me. Now I get no replies from the Supplier as to when, seems they all P**s in the same pot. |
![]() Barrie TophamHandicap : Reply : Tue 4th Sep 2012 14:10 |
Hi Dave & Phil, i would not waste my time with Powakaddy and just go back to your retailer and ask for a full refund or a swap to a Mottocaddy of the equivalent value. You should not have to pay anything as I had mine for 18months and all it did was break down. Not fit for purpose, good luck and keep in touch. Barrie. |

Hi Barrie and Dave, a further update for you on my freeway II. I picked it up from the approved repairer last week complete with new motor, new handle and screen, new axles complete with supports and bushes there is still a problem with the paint rubbed off around the bag support but after all the messing around with the trolley I will live with it. All this work was carried out at a cost of £35 this was for labour only as P/K paid for the parts. Apparently over £250's worth on a negative note they still have not sorted the speed control 6 is too slow 7 is too fast. Not sure how long the repair will last but will keep you posted!!! |

Barrie/Phil Have now received a refund for the new Screen Board I had to fit myself. Now the screen is doing to old mist up and to add to that the bottom strap that secures the bag has snapped by the plastic hook. Am now speaking with American Golf as advised and yes speed 6 and 7 just as described. |

Hi Dave & Phil, I don't know if you know but Powakaddy seem to be in trouble according to golf monthly mag. I would suggest you pester your retailers and look to exchange or obtain a full refund for all the problems you have encountered. Keep me posted chaps and good luck. |

Barrie Thanks for that just finishing speaking with my local American Golf store. Lucky for me the Assistant I spoke with had also had his own problems with his own Freeway and asked that I bring it back to the shop for returning to Powakaddy to examine. With your news I am certainly not sending it to them will probably never see it again. |
