Does anyone have a practice net or mat at home to hit a few balls now and again? Thinking of buying one or both and wondered any good or bad items to look out for? Nothing too extravagant just something decent to practice now and then. Cheers Rich |

I have one, now dismantled,
I would guess getting an astroturf mat sunk into the grass, would help preserve your lawn.
I now use the nets at the course. |

i have one, used it very regular when my boys were learning to play, used it myself also, but now all our games have moved on and it is not required as such because i believe chipping practice serves a much better purpose. I don't know how much room you have in your garden but i would recommend practicing your chipping in your garden into any net or onto a towel, get your grip, stance, technique and tempo sorted for your short iron chips. You can't put a price on being able to practice these skills for half 'n' hour a day. Your game will improve much more than just knocking a ball into a net. |

Agree with Colin, i got a couple of chipping nets from Amazon for a £6.50 and have them in my back garden, differant distances apart. Your short game is the first thing to go so best to stick with that in my opinion. I've even learned to chip off my decking now!
I am trying to start a blog of golfers view pictures of regular golf courses, mail me some picures like these if you have them. http://golfcoursespictures.blogspot.com/ |

Richard We have a Huxley Rotanet in our garden. It is a fanstastic bit of kit although a little pricey but does come with a high quality mat which I have embeded in our lawn. The big attraction for me is that it packs away like a rotary washing line and I can leave it in the garden without it being an eyesore. It's easy to pull out and can be setup in less than 2 minutes although a second pair of hands is a big help when putting it away. I would recommend this net to anyone that is serious about their golf. Richard |
