This week i saw the launch of the first british made golf club in over 30 years. It is a range of wedges that produce fantastic spin, feel and bounce. They are made from forged steel. It is designed at both the everyday golfer and the tour professional.

To take a peek go to www.jackgolf.co.uk and register your details to show an interest in purchasing one, or if you are a golf retailer register yourself to get this product in store from april/may next year.

Alternatively if you would like to demo one then why not take a drive to:-

The Brickyard Centre,Brickyard Lane, Studley, Warwickshire.B80 7EE.

Telephone :-01527 857129.

Three  wedges that do not include a pitching wedge or a gap wedge with very little bounce cannot be called a range. None of the three displayed would ever interest me. Lets get real, what on earth does one need a 64 deg or even a 60 deg wedge for.

Well Kristian, I find that I can attack the pin with my Pitching wedge as well as my Gap wedge, so please explain why these more important clubs are not yet in your range. I have been cutting up 56 deg sand wedges for fifty years and, surprise, surprise, I get them to stop.

British made certainly gives you a leg up against the Chinese, but as I stated, your range is incomplete in my opinion.

Perhaps Tim can now do a bit of 'constructive' criticism with more info available?

What info, John, just another make of wedge that will not be any better than anything else on the market. When will people realise that it is the skill of the player and not the quality of the club.

In over fifty years of playing this game I have never felt the need for specialist wedges, I have always used those that come with the set.

I'm afraid I can't really provide any criticism, constructive or otherwise based on the website.  Apart from it being made in the UK, it's just another forged wedge with a spin milled face as far as I can see.  It may well be true that it's made from high quality forged British stainless steel, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best material for the purpose.  This is why I was critical when we first heard about this, without specific detail it's still meaningless.  It would be possible to make them out of high quality forged Titanium and the end result would be an expensive wedge but not necessarily a better one.

After the volley of retoric that was claimed in the last thread their doesn't appear to be anything particularly revolutionary about them apart from a laser etched face, which even the website alludes to is nothing more than aesthetic.   Laser etching was state of the art 10 years ago but it's commonplace know.  By naming this improvement V Real Align Technology I'm afraid the manufacturers have fallen into the usual baffle by bull category of every other club maker out there. Just ask Dave Ley about my Parallax Error Reduction System © on putters, at least that has got a real benefit...

I just wish these people would stop SPAMMING our forum!!!!

If they are any good then we'll all know about them soon enough, and if they are crap the same thing will happen!

Got to say

DISAPPOINTING

Well, i'm with John on this, what market are they aiming at.

I was looking forward to seeing Gap wedges around 50, 52, 54 degrees in the range with varying bounce, as those to me are the clubs that will get used most and be more beneficial to any golfer than a 60 or 64 wedge..

All lot of hype for what.

I  am looking to replace my set of wedges as a whole package, 48, 52, 56, 60 in the next year or so and i will be looking for best deal.

How many other golfers look to do the same compared to buying 1 specialist wedge at a time.

I can only hope this company has plans to expand into the gap wedge market quickly otherwise this could be one very expensive wasted opportunity.  I can only assume those who run this company do have a solid business plan for this venture..  I would be interested to know how many of the 64* wedges sell as this club has very limited use and in the wrong hands it will be a frustrating weapon and ultimately left out of the bag.

All i can add is good luck to them, they'll need it.

I've got to agree. My wedges are pitching wedge, 50 , 54, 58 degree wedges. I don't know anyone who has or needs a 64 degree wedge. Even very few pro's ! Swap the 64 degree wedge for 52 degrees and you would have a better set !
