Hi guys, I don't know if this subject has ever been discussed previously but, as a new member I felt I ought to give other potential buyers of the R11 a bit of warning. I bought the TM R11 from a club professional and decided that a custom fitting would be beneficial to set the club up for my swing. I duly spent £100 at the TM custom fitting centre at Wentworth where it was established that the shaft weight was not suitable for me and so a heavier test shaft was fitted. This was great but at the end of the session, the fitter removed his stiffer shaft and said I had to order one from TM. My club pro looked into this and the response from TM is that I should have specified a heavier shaft when ordering the club. I cannot just buy the correct shaft, it seems? As I wouldn't have known which shaft was best until I had the custom fit session, this seems an almost impossible situation. So now I have a club at £285 plus a fitting session at £100 and the result seems to be to sell it (it's only been used at the custom fitting centre) definitely at a loss, and buy another club with the recommended shaft. Not sure what to do now but if you are thinking of getting an R11 .........BEWARE!!! |

Chris, An unfortunate episode to say the least! But alas not unusual. My on-line drivers shop was started out of nessessity after receiving similar service many times over and finding myself having a pile of ill-fitting drivers to dispose of. Having now re-located to the other side of the counter I personally fit customers for drivers and very often spend a couple of hours or more with them in the process. Trying to put right the wrongs I suffered from in the past. The cost? Absolutely nothing if they buy something. Likewise, nothing if they decline to buy because I have not provided them with a test driver which hits at least 10% longer, and much more accurately than anything they bring and hit at our session. Posh shops (with no particular reference to any outlet in particular) charge a lot of money and often offer poor service. But customers are impressed with glitz. Incidentally, shortly after the R11 was released, I advertised 50 x R11 stock drivers at £225. each. Number of sales - zero. Most UK golfers prefer to blindly pay through the nose. Cynical - possibly. True - definately. Solution? Either create merry hell at the shop and demand rectification, live with it, or take a hit. If you choose the latter then I am willing to try and help you mitigate your losses adding only the very mildest profit lining to my pocket in the process. But just as a one off for a fellow Baderite in trouble. |

Hi Sanderslongdrive, you make it sound as if this situation is more common than I thought!! If I read you correctly, you can help me out with a replacement shaft to the required spec? I am located in Buckinghamshire (Gerrards Cross). Where are you operating from? |

Chris, Aren’t computers wonderful? I spent around 30 mins. typing you a full reply directly into the reply box, pressed ‘Send’ (or whatever the box states) only for a sign to come up ‘Only registered users……’ Amazing. All lost. Went into ClipBoard and nothing preserved there. I really must type out everything in ‘Word’ and then cut and paste. I’m based in Woodford near Kettering – just off the A14. But soon (date not yet fixed) I’ll be based in mid-Wales. I can’t face trying to type out everything again but if you e-m me for a ‘phone number then I shall be pleased to provide such with a view to a chat. Hope that sounds OK?
