Hi,

Please forgive my stupidity if this is a basic question!

Currently hold a standard GolfShake account but am thinking of upgrading.

One of the key features that appeals to me is the online/PDF handicap certificate.

I only have one query, will my GolfShake handicap be accepted by golf clubs if I turn up to play in a competition?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Joe it depends what the competition is. The majority of clubs will happily accept for general play and it's widely accepted for society games, corporate days and other competitions. For Open club competitions then the generally answer is no because by design they are for visiting club members and thus for club golfers. That said I know of many clubs that over the last 3 years have accepted the Golfshake/Golfscoretracker handicap but those visiting have always checked with the club prior which I would advise.

They will not be accepted for any competition which requires an Official handicap.

I have looked through the scores of notices from other clubs advertising their Opens in my club but can not find one that does not require a CONGU handicap.

Most will only accept them for corporate or charity events. But if there are high value prizes it is unlikely.

Why not look for a club? I cost is a problem, most Propriety (and many Members' clubs now offer packages. There are also clubs based on municipal courses which provide access to Official CONGU handicaps.

DH like I so, 'the generally answer is no'

However, I do know of clubs though that have accepted non club handicaps for Open Club comps.
