just wondering if anyone had any ideas on the sort of drivers that i should be looking at buying, got a taylor made R7 at the moment with a medium shaft, really struggling with it, just wondering which is the best range to look at (easy to hit) for a high handicapper,

thanks

Take my advise, buy a Tour Edge Bazooka regular shaft with a 14/15 degee loft.  Dont worry what your mates say about the high loft, at the end of the day the main objective off the tee is to get the ball in the air, dont worry about the small loss of lenght. You can pick up a new one for half the price of the top names or go to Ebay and buy one for 30-40 dollars.

Good Luck

Mike

Hi Dave,

This Driver is appently big in the states and not so big in the UK, I was a 5 handicap who suddenly couldn't drive the ball, 6 years later I was off 12 and giving up the game!! not!! until my friend gave me a go with a 14 degee Bazooka, I hit it twice and ran to the Pro shop to buy one 6 weeks ago, Im now love the game again and shot my best round for 5 years today, a 78 gross with 2 double bogies! I don't think I can get back to 5 but I think 8 or 9 is achievable, can't wait to get out again.

David I agree with mike about the loft. I bought a macgregor EYEomatic M38.13.5 deg loft. Easy to hit. Good length for me 220-240yds. Pick them up for £30-40. Cant go wrong.

250 yards is a very long way and if I could do that consistently then I am quite sure I would be in single figures.

No matter how much you disagree, David F, a regular shaft will certainly generate more clubhead speed and hit it further.

There are way too many players using shafts that are way too stiff for them, but they stay with them because the dispersion rate is tighter.

My friend plays of 7 and he uses a Ping G15 with a soft R shaft and he can certainly clout it.

David sorry for the delay in reply.Ref Macgregor M38 eye o matic driver. Ebay is where you can find them. At the mo there are 2 left handed ones and a 10deg right handed. The M42 is 420cc as the M38 is 380cc. There are not loads around but just keep looking.

I juat brought a brand new Yonex Nanospeed Driver for £99. Definately the best driver ever. Great distance, nice and straight and comfortable and easy to use.
