Hi everyone,

I've got 1 yr old son and trying to get range on evening is near impossible - luckly manage to play 1 round every other weekend starting at 7am!

Does anyone know any good drills/practices I could do at home/in small garden? Particularly for short game?

Much appreciated!

Martin, something I have just learnt from attending a short game clinic with Steve Cowle.Get yourself a box or a towel and place it about 6-8ft in front of you and practice chipping into it,or on to a towel. What this does is make you focus on where you want the ball to land on the green and run out not where it finishes. This has been a big plus for me and am now chipping and pitching closer to the pin. Go to Steves website to  veiw the correct chipping technique no use practicing bad technique .You could even chip into an open brolly to start and then move on to a smaller target to focus your practice .Good luck.

Dave, do you chip that off the living room carpet? Or in your garden? May seems like a weird question but just thought i'd clarify!

Currently, i have a chipping net with a target hole in the middle. I tend to change my distances and angles to aim from. It improves my accuracy and distance.  It's very useful, you can get chipping nets for around 20 quid from Argos or other stores. Hope this helps

Do what I did, a few years ago.

Was practising chipping off the carpet in the hall. I had a rush of adrenaline and took a full swing, smashed the chandelier in the process.  Opppppsssssssss

Yep, definitely avoid taking a full swing indoors like Mr Marshall!

At the risk of sounding like Steve Cowle's lovechild I would really highly recommend signing up to the members area of his website.  Honestly the tips and programs on there are brilliant, many of which can be practiced safely at home and only taking minimal time per day (which is ideal if with a young family Martin).

Will certainly be the best £50 (this is a reduced fee for Golfshake members) you will spend on improving your game...

Here ends my sales pitch
